You must be so happy 😁flaneurs_lobster said:After 20 years, NOW I can pay that cheque into my BoS account at the local Lloyds branch, and not be told that I had to walk a mile to the BoS branch.0 -
Yes, and they did so shortly before closing all RBS branches in England & Wales, and all NatWest branches in Scotland. Meaning they essentially just had one national branch network, albeit with a different sign above the door in Scotland (although they even changed all the colours so it was just NatWest purple).jameseonline said:
my 1st thought when seeing this news was NatWest and RBS already been doing this for a whilesausage_time said:Can't RBS and NatWest customers use each others branches?
Having said that, a very long time ago I recall using Midland Bank branches as a Clydesdale Bank customer. Distinct and now extinct brands.Halifax won’t last long as a high street brand.0 -
First Direct customers were always allowed to use Midland Bank branches, FD being the telephone banking arm of Midland Bank. HSBC then purchased Midland Bank and rebranded them to HSBC. I’m a long standing Midland / HSBC / First Direct customer, over forty years!Rob5342 said:I'm surprised they didn't do this years ago like HSBC did with allowing First Direct customers to use HSBC branches. I stated that BOS and Halifax where visible on each others web sites I made no mention of Lloyds being visibleeskbanker said:
What about it? Halifax is structured as a division of BoS so the two have been like that for 15+ years, but they operate under a separate banking licence from Lloyds, despite being part of the same overall parent group, and there's no visibility of BoS/Halifax products from the Lloyds app/website, as stated.35har1old said:
What about BOS currently able to be viewed via Halifax and the same with BOSGTR_King said:So in the future there will only one app/website for all LBG Banks or for example on Lloyds app/website you will be able to see all your accounts with Halifax?

I have accounts with all three never had a problem opening any of themsteven141 said:I have a Lloyds account but live in Scotland and although some basic things like paying into your Lloyds Account was possible, opening a new account or product with the Lloyds brand wasn’t and they were focused on Bank of Scotland so now I’m guessing that you will have a choice of brand.
in my opinion, it’s probably time to retire the Halifax brand for current accounts etc and just keep it for Mortgages and move everyone over to Lloyds.0 -

There current accounts are poles apart.Rob5342 said:
No, but it was just another brand they had and allowed use of HSBC branches. I dont see why Lloyd's and Halifax couldn't have done the same, they are pretty muxh identical just with a different colour scheme.35har1old said:
Did First Direct ever have branches?Rob5342 said:I'm surprised they didn't do this years ago like HSBC did with allowing First Direct customers to use HSBC branches. It's ridiculous having two sets of branches in an age where most people bank online.
They all seem to be closely linked behind the scenes anyway. The website and app are virtually identical, and when i filled in the online form to handle my late fathers Lloyd's account I could use my Halifax account to confirm my id.
I've just had a look at their websites. Ok, they aren't absolutely identical but I'm struggling to see much of a difference between their current accounts. Apart from the colour and name even the websites are very similar to each other.

Lloyds recently had a refresh so I'm assuming Halifax &/or Bank Of Scotland will too1

Nobody disputes that Halifax and BoS have been visible on each other's sites and apps, but that didn't address the post you were replying to, which was asking about app/website consolidation "for all LBG Banks" or whether "on Lloyds app/website you will be able to see all your accounts with Halifax", i.e. asking about whether something is going to be changing in this area rather than wanting to discuss what's already been in place for many years.35har1old said:
