I’ll be interested to see if they just brand all branches at Lloyds Banking Group then probably stickers on the windows with all different brands. I’m assuming that this came up as they realised that they will have to rebrand all of the Lloyds Banking Group branches to Lloyds and it has been a while since the Bank of Scotland signage outside a lot of branches has been renewed.

I’ll also be curious to see if they keep that string perfumed smell in the new branches like they have in their Bank of Scotland branches.
I didn't see anything that suggested any physical change to the branches themselves, just the services offered within them?
Remains to be seen. How does Bank of Scotland handle Lloyds Bank accounts? Are they served at the same counter positions as Bank of Scotland/Halifax customers? I'm sure I remember seeing some reference to some sort of separation.
No there wasn’t anything said about separations. Counter will just stay as one counter

There’s a Halifax and Lloyds in my town…Wonder which would go? Both seem quite busy most days.
They'd probably close the one with the highest rent, or business rates, and keep the cheaper one.

I'm surprised they didn't do this years ago like HSBC did with allowing First Direct customers to use HSBC branches. It's ridiculous having two sets of branches in an age where most people bank online.

They all seem to be closely linked behind the scenes anyway. The website and app are virtually identical, and when i filled in the online form to handle my late fathers Lloyd's account I could use my Halifax account to confirm my id.
Did First Direct ever have branches?
No, but it was just another brand they had and allowed use of HSBC branches. I dont see why Lloyd's and Halifax couldn't have done the same, they are pretty muxh identical just with a different colour scheme.
Just read a article you won't be able to use the self service cash machines to pay money in at HSBC if you are First Direct customer and if you want to draw money greater than the cash machine limit you will have to phone ahead (09-04-25)

You haven't been able to do that since First Direct changed their debit cards to Mastercard, anyway.  The cards aren't compatible with the HSBC machines.  FD kept saying they were working to make them compatible, but they've now confirmed this is not going to happen.

IIRC one of the pay in machine types (cheque, I think?) previously could previously be used by typing in the sort code and account number. Is that no longer the case from April?

Announced today that a further 136 LBG branches will be closing over the next 18 months or so.

    What a coincidence! 🙄

In the two town centres nearest to me Halifax and Lloyds face each other in a shopping precinct in the first and are next door but one in the other. On the day that multi-brand access was announced the staff knew exactly what was coming next.

Have just seen the list of the latest Lloyd’s/Halifax branch closures and the two I mentioned are not on it.
