Lloyds Group allowing multi brand branch access

About time, but sadly too late where I live. They decided to retain Lloyds and Halifax in various surrounding towns (none in walking distance), but took away the one branch that we had. One of the three in every town shouldn’t have been difficult, but they accelerated closures before thinking outside of the box.1

No, but it was just another brand they had and allowed use of HSBC branches. I dont see why Lloyd's and Halifax couldn't have done the same, they are pretty muxh identical just with a different colour scheme.35har1old said:
Did First Direct ever have branches?Rob5342 said:I'm surprised they didn't do this years ago like HSBC did with allowing First Direct customers to use HSBC branches. It's ridiculous having two sets of branches in an age where most people bank online.
They all seem to be closely linked behind the scenes anyway. The website and app are virtually identical, and when i filled in the online form to handle my late fathers Lloyd's account I could use my Halifax account to confirm my id.0 -
There current accounts are poles apart.Rob5342 said:

First Direct was built from scratch by HSBC. FD was only ever telephone banking no branch network. HBOS was formed by a merger of the Halifax and Bank of Scotland. Lloyds never planned on acquiring the bank. Did so at short notice to save it from collapse in 2008. Takes time to integrate large complex organisations.Rob5342 said:I'm surprised they didn't do this years ago like HSBC did with allowing First Direct customers to use HSBC branches.2 -

All 3 offer a basic account, which is identical functionally.
All 3 offer a standard fee-free current account, which as far as I can see are also identical in terms of their offer.
All 3 offer an account with a perk for meeting a minimum pay in and/or paying a fee.
All 3 offer a comprehensive packaged bank account.
The only current account offer anomaly is the less comprehensive Silver Account, which Halifax don't have an equivalent offer for.
I grant you they are not identical but 'poles apart' is a bit of a stretch.1 -
What about it? Halifax is structured as a division of BoS so the two have been like that for 15+ years, but they operate under a separate banking licence from Lloyds, despite being part of the same overall parent group, and there's no visibility of BoS/Halifax products from the Lloyds app/website, as stated.35har1old said:
What about BOS currently able to be viewed via Halifax and the same with BOSGTR_King said:So in the future there will only one app/website for all LBG Banks or for example on Lloyds app/website you will be able to see all your accounts with Halifax?1 -
Are you referring to open banking? I found this way too slow.35har1old said:
Along with 15 other providers which can be added on the Halifax appGTR_King said:So in the future there will only one app/website for all LBG Banks or for example on Lloyds app/website you will be able to see all your accounts with Halifax?0 -
After 20 years, NOW I can pay that cheque into my BoS account at the local Lloyds branch, and not be told that I had to walk a mile to the BoS branch.1

my 1st thought when seeing this news was NatWest and RBS already been doing this for a whilesausage_time said:Can't RBS and NatWest customers use each others branches?
Having said that, a very long time ago I recall using Midland Bank branches as a Clydesdale Bank customer. Distinct and now extinct brands.0
