Indeed. That BoS branch closed over 10 years ago. Might well have been other tenants in what was a very grand space.eskbanker said:

Aldgate & Threadneedle St, although this was a while ago. The Lloyd's is still there, BoS Chief London Office turned into Jamie's Italian.[Deleted User] said:
I'm curious - where are the Lloyds and BOS branches that close together?flaneurs_lobster said:After 20 years, NOW I can pay that cheque into my BoS account at the local Lloyds branch, and not be told that I had to walk a mile to the BoS branch.1 -
Hmmm... there's only one contributor who's made this claim previously. Well, two, but I'm pretty sure they're both the same person (and they're both now banned).[Deleted User] said:
Nothing of the sort as BOS branches have been able to service BOS, Halifax and Lloyds accounts for years.Hoenir said:
First Direct was built from scratch by HSBC. FD was only ever telephone banking no branch network. HBOS was formed by a merger of the Halifax and Bank of Scotland. Lloyds never planned on acquiring the bank. Did so at short notice to save it from collapse in 2008. Takes time to integrate large complex organisations.Rob5342 said:I'm surprised they didn't do this years ago like HSBC did with allowing First Direct customers to use HSBC branches.
It was clearly a business decision to delineate Halifax and Lloyds to keep the illusion of competition.
Can anyone else corroborate this? It's not mentioned on any of the banks websites so far as I can see.1 -
Ah well, we used to have a full set! but TSB & Barclays have gone and now NatWest & Lloyds due to go this year.
Lloyds group have opted to keep Halifax open very probably because it is far more accessible for anyone with mobility issues & is a newer building with a better layout..Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
