It can be due to lease dates and any lease break clauses - my two closest LBG branches are closing ; one I expected as it's the last man standing in the area but next closest was unexpected as it's always packed due to other closures.DasTechniker said:
Have just seen the list of the latest Lloyd’s/Halifax branch closures and the two I mentioned are not on it.EarthBoy said:
They'd probably close the one with the highest rent, or business rates, and keep the cheaper one.DasTechniker said:There’s a Halifax and Lloyds in my town…Wonder which would go? Both seem quite busy most days.2 -
I make 5 minutes in my town; The next street! 😁northwalesd said:I'm surprised that neither Lloyds nor Halifax branch in my home city are on the list, they're about 2 minutes walk apart.0 -
We had a full set in our town, BARCLAYS, NATWEST, HSBC, LLOYDS, NATIONWIDE and HALIFAX, until BARCLAYS threw in the towel.[Deleted User] said:

We have a lovely Victorian building for the Lloyds branch in town, but the Halifax branch is situated in an ordinary looking ex-shop front.EarthBoy said:

I probably got a good idea which one will close.

Just checked my location, and so far, neither Lloyds nor Halifax are in the fireing line yet?northwalesd said:I'm surprised that neither Lloyds nor Halifax branch in my home city are on the list, they're about 2 minutes walk apart.1 -
I'm curious - where are the Lloyds and BOS branches that close together?flaneurs_lobster said:After 20 years, NOW I can pay that cheque into my BoS account at the local Lloyds branch, and not be told that I had to walk a mile to the BoS branch.0 -
Nothing of the sort as BOS branches have been able to service BOS, Halifax and Lloyds accounts for years.Hoenir said:
First Direct was built from scratch by HSBC. FD was only ever telephone banking no branch network. HBOS was formed by a merger of the Halifax and Bank of Scotland. Lloyds never planned on acquiring the bank. Did so at short notice to save it from collapse in 2008. Takes time to integrate large complex organisations.Rob5342 said:I'm surprised they didn't do this years ago like HSBC did with allowing First Direct customers to use HSBC branches.
It was clearly a business decision to delineate Halifax and Lloyds to keep the illusion of competition.0 -
So how long has it been possible to pay a cheque into a Lloyds account at BOS[Deleted User] said:

Aldgate & Threadneedle St, although this was a while ago. The Lloyd's is still there, BoS Chief London Office turned into Jamie's Italian.[Deleted User] said:

There's one of each almost opposite each other in Glasgow. Haven't checked the latest death list...1 -
