Nat West ISA application.

If I’d realised it would be this slow/challenging I don’t think I’d have bothered. I only went with NatWest as I was out off having to go into branch to transfer into the Nationwide alternative!

I've spent a week trying to sort this, jumping through the assorted hoops.
Did the ID checks on photo ID and my picture on their link, finally got a customer number and activation code.
Signed in and they've for some reason set me up with a fixed savings bond, not the actual ISA.
Reading further you need to apply for a card reader, and to be honest, I'm tempted to just abort this now.
Might be lesser rates elsewhere, but seems way, way less hassle.

But you are right, a straight ISA once running shouldn't need anything fancy on top.
Just slightly concerned upon entering my account that the reference is to a Fixed cash bond, not the actual ISA I'd set the ball rolling with.
Maybe that's nothing to worry about and I could just ignore that and open an ISA on top.0 -
I've finally given up. Was on the phone to Natwest today, and the bloke said you should have chosen how to fund your ISA during the initial application, before ID was confirmed, and it's too late now.
I told him that wasn't an option, as the message said wait until we open your account, with no other options.
He said you could try opening another account, and see if that gives you the option of funding it. The current one would be closed as 'you can't have more than one ISA in a year'. I said you can if you transfer in. He then suggested I do a bank transfer from the other ISA I wanted to put in this one, but I pointed out that would likely lose my tax benefits, which he then agreed.
He then asked if I wanted to be transferred to the ISA team. 30 minutes on hold on a 0345 number (22p a minute), I gave up. It's not worth the hassle.1 -
Got my NatWest Hooyu email last night. Think I will just leave it and wait until the next bank rate meet and see what happens to ISA rates.

At 2am today (26 July) I received an email asking me to do the ID check with Hooyu. I did that at lunchtime. I stupidly thought I'd get an email saying it had been processed, until I realised I needed to stay online until it said complete! ha! Now that's done I guess I wait.0

I've had to help both my elderly parents in opening their NatWest 2 year fixed ISA a/c's this week.
Without my assistance there is no way they could have navigated their way through the online application and subsequent Hooyu process.
The initial applications were submitted on Tuesday morning.
The Hooyu identification emails came through yesterday morning.
We are now waiting for the sort code and account number information for both a/c so they can post off the Non NatWest S&S ISA to NatWest Cash ISA transfer request forms.
It seems a very complicated/slow process and certainly not user friendly to those who aren't tech savvy and with no access to smartphone cameras.
Over the past couple of years, my wife and I have opened new customer ISAs and savings accounts with Ecology, Coventry, Virgin, Union Bank of India and Kroo. I don't recall any of those applications being as complex or time consuming as NatWest!!

Gave up a week in having jumped through assorted hoops, when seeing they'd set me up with a 2 year savings fixed bond instead of the ISA. And taking ages to get them to shut that down.
I mean I'm able to click the right button on a website so how did that happen!
