The application process seems a bit drawn out hence my query - The RBS website has key dates for this ISA. It says 14th August 2023 is ‘the last date for receipt by us of an external ISA’. Are they saying any transfer in has to be completed by then? I would want to transfer a Shawbrook ISA in but it doesn’t mature until 23/8/23.

    Thanks for any insight.
So answering myself as a fixed rate and not variable there is a short window to transfer in. I can open a new one for this year’s unused cash isa spend. Then another one (depending what is available) for the Shawbrook transfer.

Just tried to apply to NatWest online, current response

“We're running some maintenance at the moment...

So unfortunately can't accept new applications right now”

    Try again tomorrow I guess!

Not sure if this helps others but I applied online for both NatWest and RBS on 18th July as a new customer. Both accounts are now fully open and activated with ISA transfers underway. So 5 working days end to end.
How did they confirm that the accounts were opened I.e. was it by post or email? Just so I know what to look out for!

After the initial "you've applied" emails and text message I then got further emails and text messages with the account info. Not received any correspondance by post at all.

I have just had an email giving me my customer number, it goes on to say I will get my activation code by text within 48 hrs or by post in 7 to 10 days. What a shower of poo.
I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
I listen all night for your step on the stair.

I don't currently bank with Natwest.  I applied on the evening of 22 July and quickly received an email confirming my application.  At 2am today (26 July) I received an email asking me to do the ID check with Hooyu.  I did that at lunchtime. I stupidly thought I'd get an email saying it had been processed, until I realised I needed to stay online until it said complete! ha!  Now that's done I guess I wait.

Applied to NatWest today and got an email saying they will be in touch with more details of what 'you need to do next to open your account'. Surely it would be as easy to automate it to send THAT email rather than a holding one?! So used to smooth online and almost instant applications elsewhere, you notice it when it is not as slick.

You're now making me wonder if I'd completed it properly.
I did get to a point it said something about read what to do next, and then seeing nowhere obvious to do that.
I have a reference number, so "assume" it's in the system and just need to wait day(s) to get an email, then wait ages to get the activation code.

To think anyone was worried about the ISA only starting late August. No-one is able to get it set up before then anyway  :D

I read this as they need transfer form by 14th August, Shawbrook not on Natwest electronic transfer list so will be paper form

Thanks yes I’ve since read the full Ts & Cs. That is the request deadline. There is a deadline for payments in I think of 1st September, not sure it that also applies to a transfer in that is lodged and in process. Not sure how smooth the transfer will be if a paper process.
