So here's a dilemma, if it's 0p import but it's sunny and you have no batteries what the best course of action? As I'll end up using the 15p export power.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0

I would try to use as little electricity as possible during your peak generation period to benefit from the export, and shift any usage (washing machine etc) outside of peak solar and peak prices (4-7pm) where the prices are otherwise near zero.I'm considering turning off the boiler tomorrow and firing up an electric radiator and the oven to heat the house. Our green credentials: 12kW Samsung ASHP for heating, 7.2kWp Solar (South facing), Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5kWh), Net exporter0

I've set up an automation to use the oil filled radiators as long as electric price remains under gas price and solar generation is under 500w!NedS said:Spies said:So here's a dilemma, if it's 0p import but it's sunny and you have no batteries what the best course of action? Wow, you are leagues ahead of me - I was thinking of waking the misses up at 3am so she could turn the washing machine on! (J/K)Spies said:

I've got a timer on my washing machine only trouble is I've programmed myself to go round switching off all the sockets before I go to bed! Tomorrow will be a treat with free electric during the day and Octopus will pay me to take a nice long shower first thingWow, you are leagues ahead of me - I was thinking of waking the misses up at 3am so she could turn the washing machine on! Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.1 -
This is the first time I've seen these prices since I switched to Agile about two months ago. Is it odd that I'm strangly looking forward to doing all my washing and ironing tomorrow?
If the sun comes out I might try to cut the grass. It needs it, and it will be pleasing to do it for free!0 -
Dishwasher already set for a cleaning schedule and washer will get a 90C empty run. 2 loads of real washing will get done. Definitely gonna be a baking day tomorrow, 4 loaves and a few cakes/muffins, will freeze some and use over next couple of weeks. Roast dinner a day early maybe.
Hubby can get jet wash out and sort patio, he's been muttering about it for weeks, no excuses now

all necessary leccy-heavy things.
The real dilemma starts when prices are negative all day long.. should you put radiator outside and set it to full power? 😅0 -

This is the reason why when my old boilermate thermal store leaked, rather than switch to an unvented cylinder like most heating engineers suggested, I had another store fitted with 2 3KW immersion heaters. Combined with Home Assistant I can set it to automatically run off those and turn on all the rads. Just a shame the price isn't negative

I'm going to do my ironing at 8 o'clock. It'll be the first time I've been paid to do the ironing so let's see how much I'm worth!2
