I've just opened a new donor account to use for the switch. Do I need to wait for the debit card to arrive before doing the switch, or can I perform the switch with only the account number and sort code? Our green credentials: 12kW Samsung ASHP for heating, 7.2kWp Solar (South facing), Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5kWh), Net exporter0

I’ve trawled the last 2 years statements on all three of my old-style Halifax Rewards statements and can’t seem to spot any incentive payment, but I’m almost sure there was an offer I took advantage of in that time frame. (Want to be certain I’ll be eligible for this one, especially because I’ll need to upgrade one of my accounts to an Ultimate Reward and pay for it.) Thanks!
We received £125 switching incentives from Halifax in March 2018 so just qualify for this new offer. That offer required an application between 6th February 2018 and 19th March 2018.

So first time switcher here; account opened tonight; got sort code account number. Got 4 email confirming things. First one says what next..... Your activation code will be with you soon, but while you’re waiting for it to arrive why not sign and take a look around. Visit halifax.co.uk and select ‘Sign in’ ...... but when I do it asks for activation code. Assume I need this to use any online service, not just mobile app?
Keen to transfer funds but call me old fashioned, I’d like to see it hitting the account first before transferring the £1500, monthly requirement.
Guessing I need to be patient, and I can see anything until I get the activation code?0 -

you need activation code to login to your online banking and then only you can login to app. They are asking you to look around and get familiar with things before you sign up. I got the code on 3rd day morning and then immediately cycled £1500 and also spent £500 to my debit card by paying credit card bill.

In the case of a current account, you'd want at least online access, a debit card and a PIN, and ideally also app access. If they offer telephone banking, that's a nice to have which you might want to set up at a later stage.1 -
Thanks for the replies above. Not transferring anything until I have access, normally do a fiver to see it hits the account and I’ve got the numbers correct before trying the real amounts. Was just the email suggested access, but code required for the app, but clearly its required to access online.0

i opened account on 4/8/20. online access activation code arrived within 2 days, pin and card arrived 10/8/20 in separate envelopes

Also, with several people reporting that the debit card and the PIN are being sent together, it's really not a good idea to fund the account with a large amount of money until you have safely received the debit card, just in case a fraudster intersects your card and PIN.
