  • Hi Martin
Our holiday to Italy was cancelled at the beginning of march. On the 12th we were told a cheque would be sent out as we had switched bank accounts... No problem with this. On the 19th we spoke to Magdalena who told us the cheque had been sent on the 16th, on the 21st spoke to Dwayne who also said had been sent on the 16th, spoke George on the 24th who told us his supervisor had said we should just "sit it out!" Spoke to Ryan on 26th who said no cheque had ever been sent. We have tried phoning and emailing numerous times since with no reply, now their phones are temporary shut down.
The holiday is down as cancelled but who knows when we will get our money back. Its all made worse because they are using the situation we are all in now as the reason for us not having our money back yet but our holiday was cancelled weeks before lock down and working from home and should have been done and dusted before it all started.
Please can you advise on what steps we can take next Ian and Donna Bibby.
  • Bizarrely following on from my post re. Jet 2 refund yesterday I have today received a refund of £169 which was the balance I paid in December and a mystery £1 deposit. The initial £840 I paid last March is still missing in action. I've submitted another complaint form! I know their probably struggling but if they can make one payment why not the rest? Its surely making work for themselves?.
  • Update. To be fair although they are late Jet 2 have just dropped the rest of the money into my account. Now to wait on TUI re. flights to Greece in May!
  • Can anyone please help me make a decision.  My predicament is ,,, we have booked a holiday on june 18th ,our flights are with jet2.
4 flights are ,£800 ish in total .BUT JET2 HAVE CANCELLED ALL FLIGHTS UP TO 17TH JUNE the day before ours . The accommodation is booked separately and my full refund day expires on 19th April, 60 days before we go,  after this its 50% thirty days before .
Do i cancel my accommodation in the hope my flight will also be cancelled so a full refund all round .
What if my flight goes ahead  ill lose £800 or if i wait it out and my flight gets cancelled, ive lost my £700 accommodation.  I have insurance and i paid on CC. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP .
    Thanks Bill

In your position I would probably cancel the accommodation for refund and wait and see what happens with the flights/FCO guidance
If the flights are not cancelled you will have the option to find alternative accommodation and travel as planned or look to change the dates on the flights assuming the fare rules allow....however I would not be surprised if the cancellation dates change.
  • Jet 2 say they are dealing with refunds in date order. I should have travelled on 30th March and I got my refund today. So that may give people some idea of where they are at.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.
  • Hi thanks for your input , caz3121 that was my main option to cancel accommodation  but it feels so final , and i was kind of hopeful that everything would work out ok . I'm surei wouldn't struggle to find accommodation somewhere if needed .
  • I am due to pay my holiday balance tomorrow, do I pay and if the holiday is cancelled hope for a refund to use for a new date.
Or cancel and lose £240 but at least I haven’t laid out any more money ?
Travel agent not taking calls or giving out amendment forms ,What if they go bust !
Any guidance would be helpful , thanks.

We were due to return from Tenerife on 23rd March. On 19th I received text from Jet2.com stating flight had been cancelled and the last one back was Saturday 21st. Regulation 261/2004 states it should have been rescheduled but I was obliged to book new at £100 more than I'd already paid. I've sent two online complaint forms to Jet2 and had automated acknowledgements but no refund. The last one stated it would be at least twelve weeks before I might receive an answer. They also have £860 of mine for flights in June- which aren't going to happen. To cap it all I paid Ryanair for my son to join us in June. Getting my money back from them is as likely as China offering to make reparations. I just checked my Post Office account and there's nothing from Jet2 or Ryanair. It seems credit card companies and insurers will not refund until they get evidence you've been in dialogue with the the airline and it has failed/refused to pay.

Who is it booked with and did you book direct with the travel company or through a travel agent. Do you have travel insurance taken out before Covid started?
