Hi Bagand96,
Thankyou for the speedy reply, think I will go for option 1 and cancel today, for the sake of losing £180 and puts the families mind at rest.
Stay Safe

Travel in the summer looks very uncertain to say the least, and (i like many) am in the position where I've paid my deposit (£240) and i'm due to pay the balance in a couple of weeks. Given the uncertainty, i'm reluctant to pay anything more as although Jet2 are ATOL protected and theoretically my money is safe, i don't want the hassle/risk of having a large chunk of may savings in someone else's account and having to wait forever to get a refund. I've noticed today on the app that you can delay the final balance until 2 weeks after the original date that it was due. So I've clicked that which makes the balance due at the end of may, 8 weeks before travel, rather than 10 weeks - my thinking here is that the picture may be clearer at the end of May, and if they do cancel, i'm entitled to my deposit back which i wouldn't be if i cancelled at the original balance due date.....
Anyhow, i'm wondering if this leaves me more liable to paying the holiday as their policy states that if you cancel 70 days before departure you just lose your deposit, but within 57-69 days before departure, you will lose 30% of the total booking price - however i haven't paid anything other than the deposit, can they insist i pay 30% of the value of the holiday, am i liable for that? Its not clear in the T's & C's. Cheers B0 -

bagand96 said:1) If YOU cancel, you will pay a cancellation charge. As per their T&C's it's a sliding scale based on how long before the holiday you cancel. If you cancel 70 days or more before departure it's only a loss of deposit. So you'd lose the £60pp and be entitled to a refund of anything above that you've paid. The only issue you may have here is getting in touch with Jet2 to actually process the cancellation.
2) If you keep the booking and pay the balance, and THEY have to cancel the holiday then you will be entitled to a full refund.
3) If you keep the booking and the holiday goes ahead, and you decide to cancel then it's the same as 1) above, only that the nearer you are to the holiday the far more the cancellation charge is.Ex forum ambassador

Same answer applies , you either cancel and lose the 30% (which you are liable to under the terms and conditions ) or pay the balance and let them cancel.
If I had the money available I'd always do the full payment for protection .Ex forum ambassador

So are people suggesting Jet2s generous ability to delay paying the balance for up to 2 weeks is a cynical way of capturing more than just the paid deposit.
When you extend you do indeed have to tick a box understanding the terms and conditions.
However said terms and conditions are not available to read on that page at that point.
This certainly the case on my phone app.
Normally when you have to tick a box saying you have read something there is a link.0
