As per the Jet2 T&Cs, if you cancel outside of 70 days then you only lose your deposit. Any monies paid over the deposit amount you would be entitled to a refund of. Once the 70 days has gone there's a sliding scale of how much is forfeited.0 -

Looking on Jet2 Twitter they do seem to be replying to people within about 4 days.0 -

You shouldn't need insurance though for this cancellation if you've decided you want to cancel and lose the deospit. You just need to get it done with Jet2. You say you've emailed, and phoned and tweeted etc. Keep copies of all that so you can prove you've made all reasonable attempts to cancel it. Then if you do miss the 70 days, you have some ammo to get them to make an exception.0 -

I believe they are NOT covered currently. I wonder if this will change otherwise there will be a mass exodus of cash out the Holiday Companies.0

Has Jet2 said how long the vouchers are valid? I would only accept them if they are protected by ABTA/ATOL.

We decided to cancel our holiday (to Balearics at end of June) and accept we may lose the deposit. The "Cancel online" option on the Jet2 website says it is no longer possible to cancel online and to email them, so I did so, twice, and just received automated acknowledgements. The phone lines are closed so I could not phone them.
Lo and behold, they took the balance of £2400 off my credit card this morning anyway. I'm hopping mad.
What should we do? Raise it with the credit card company as an unauthorised transaction and not pay them? Or pay it and hope that the holiday gets cancelled anyway by Jet2 (fairly likely) and then wait in a long line for a refund and hope that they don't go into administration in the interim (exactly what we were trying to avoid)? Or something else?
Thanks in advance for any advice!0 -
Even if they went into administration it is ATOL protected and you used a credit card.1
