How do I disable Private Messaging, please? For reasons I won't go into, I disabled the function on the old site, but I can't see a way to do it here.

So I think I may be one of the few that likes the colours. Only issue I have on my phone (apart from the dates issue that's already been reported) is the overlay of views and the green line.

And posting my last comment has led to one another overlay issue with the edit cog

  • Can we have "last visited on" (time/date) back again please ;-)
I've noticed that posts from yesterday do not have a time appended whereas today's do. . . Is this correct?

colours, fine, and brings a nice seperation to the page, maybe try altering your actual monitors settings / resolution if it looks "big" you could be on a low res, and / or your dpi scaling is off.
the emails being per comment (annoying on a very popular thread) are annoying, i had mine set to daily for some, weekly digest for others.

as ever though, people will complain, its the natural fear of change, and the re learning. i embrace it tbh.

the old one must have been broken and just patched and bodged, it was old, ancient in tech terms tbf.

I can find Bookmarks (previously known as Subscribed Threads) on my desktop, but how do I find them on my (Android) phone? Anyone know?

It used to be automatic as soon as you had posted on that thread.

Look near the top of the page, you will see a cog, the thing to the left of that is the book mark.

You can also click your profile, edit profile, notifications and pick what you want to receive notifications for and either by email (which is each reply) or pop up (down the bottom of your screen if on a phone)

Each Web browser also goes about implementing web standards (you may have heard of W3C?) in frustratingly non-conforming ways. Firefox is perhaps the closest to adhering to these standards. Chrome can be more cutting edge, especially to Google's own products, but at the sacrifice of observing those standards. Safari is actually one of the worst for this. I spent some considerable time in the past working with various organisations (Mozilla, Microsoft, Google, Samsung etc.) on Web Compatability.

It's such a minefield of differentating status that they together decided to contribute to Mozilla's MDN Web Compatability tables seen at the bottom of most of their articles. For example, at the bottom of this page you see how each Web browser has implemented document cookies - along with version number and and notes https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Document/cookie

This perhaps might shed some light as to why many MSE users are having a variety of different problems with this new forum. Each browser handles the pages differently. Something to consider when pulling your hair out that something in this new forum does not work as you might expect. It may not actually be the forum's fault, but the technology choice you've made in your preferred Web browser has gone about making things work behind the scenes.

TL;DR: Consider testing in another Web browser if you're having trouble.
