... Have you tried ZOOMing in to 110% ???
That's CTRL and + (Plus sign to increase / CTRL and - MINUS sign to decrease)
or via the 3 Horizontal Bars top right corner (for CHROME at least) and use the ZOOM controls
The right column "collapses" and the items found at the top of it move to the bottom of the page
TRY IT - I think it's far betterDoesn't work for me (PC, W10, Firefox) - I have to zoom to 170% before the three side boxes move to the bottom of the page, and all that's happened is the text size in the messages is now HUGE and takes up the same or more space as before. What's wanted is to utilise the full screen width for the message boxes with same size font so each message occupies less vertical page space and therefore far less scrolling needed. I'm sick of having to constantly scroll down to move to the next couple of messages.
I'm using a really old laptop with a "normal" 4:3 ratio screen (1024 x 768 aspect)

Hi all,
It’s been an exceptionally busy few days for the whole team here at MSE (and at Vanilla) as we’ve started the process of bedding in the new Forum for you.
Firstly, I want to thank you for reporting the snags you’ve spotted on the Snagging thread. We’re now working our way through everything, prioritising what needs to be done sooner rather than later. This will obviously take some time and of course, we still have the job of running the Forum on a day-to-day basis, so your continued patience is really appreciated. We’re aware that the Compers in particular are missing some of the bespoke functionality that we had on the previous Forum. We’re prioritising this along with some new functionality for you
So, during the past few days, we’ve been hammering away and tightening nuts and bolts all over the place, some are public facing and others are very much behind the scenes.
Here are some of the things we’ve been able to fix/improve already:
- Issue with historic deleted PM’s – this is now resolved.
- Increased max post length.
- Fixed Notifications not appearing.
- Fixed 'edit' for first post in thread.
- Removed the Duplicate post count on each post.
- Removed duplicated badges on profile view.
- Data stamps and displays on posts, threads and thread list views.
Next up, we’ll be sorting:- Returning ability to skip competitions from List view (we'll also make it possible to mark them as entered here too).
- Investigating sorting, filtering and expiring options for Competitions Board.
- Date stamps on Mobile view.
- Functionality of cog etc on Mobile.
- Post numbering to enable easy linking to individual post.
In the slightly longer term, here are a few more things already on our radar:- Layout of Profile page for posts/threads made.
- Badges.
- Post counts display.
- Bookmarking/subscribing when posting.
- Daily digest mails.
- Make it more obvious when post is thanked/Comp-limented.
This isn’t the complete list by any stretch of the imagination but we hope it shows that we’re not just listening to, but also acting on your feedback.
For now, we are going to hit pause on this thread. This will give us the chance to go through everything again and make sure we’re dealing with things in a structured way. We’re hoping to give you regular updates on our progress every 7-10 days so, keep your eyes peeled.
The entire re-platform was, and continues to be, a massive undertaking. We moved 15+ years of content across to the new platform to secure another 15+ years of the MSE Forum. The work to improve and grow the community as much as possible will continue for months to come, we’re in this for the long run! That means, it will take time for us to achieve everything we want and in the meantime, we’ll do our best to help you get settled into our new home.
Thank you for your feedback so far, and remember to be nice to everyone, especially the Forum TeamMSE Tine
