Switch to HTML by clicking the < / > button.
Move to the end of the reply, after /blockquote, hit return to get a new line
Start typing your reply.
If you don't like looking at it in code, type one word and then click < / > to switch back to normal view.

Stolen from the below: If you're on mobile, you won't see the < / > button if you are viewing in portrait mode because there isn't space for a lot of buttons, so would need to rotate to landscape mode first.

This is not supposed to be a tutorial thread, it is a snagging list for things that are broken or not working.  So apologies that my reply may drag it further off topic.  It would be good to have a 'how to' guide for the new forum software, and perhaps perhaps a dismissable popup or sticky could tell new users where to find it for the first month or so.

• On Youtube when you are watching a video and click sharing options, one of them is Embed, which gives you the html code.
• On your MSE reply, use the </> button to put your post editor into HTML mode, and then you can paste the code that you got from the youtube website.
• If you're on mobile, you won't see the </> button if you are viewing in portrait mode because there isn't space for a lot of buttons, so would need to rotate to landscape mode first.

FORUM VIEW - SORTING BY THREAD START TIME
The default is to sort by latest post time
eg. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/site-feedback
To sort by thread start time edit the URL by adding ?sort=new on the end
eg. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/site-feedback?sort=new

I'm just speculating here but would assume the former relates to discussions/threads that you've started, whereas the latter refers to those that you've posted on. Personally I wouldn't enable either of these but perhaps someone who finds such notifications useful might wish to experiment and validate this?

Just a small thing for me. I am the original "nicki" having signed up with the forums the day it launched in March 2003 (I was in the top 10 original members if I recall correctly) and suddenly my user name is "nicki_2". I can't see any reason why my user name has been changed. Can something be done about this please? I may not post often but I don't want to loose my identity on here just because you've updated the software!

What is the difference between a “wall” and a “discussion”?

Your discussions are threads that you started.  Discussions you've participated in are threads that you have commented on, like this one

Re your 'wall' : On your profile page you can select Activity and then you get a comment box sitting at the bottom of your own profile where you can add text or images etc. If you 'post' to that part of your profile, people can view and comment on it. I just tried it on yours. There seems to be no way to edit or delete something posted there other than perhaps by [!]Report ing it.Sorry.

Click  "Quote and it appears in the box at the bottom of the page ...

.. change your mind (wrong post quoted / just don't want to do it any more)

Click  "Quote again  (same post)  ....

and you get TWO OF THEM !

I can't read through every comment but a quick Q - is the new forum skinnable or have any options at all on its appearance?  I did check my profile and settings.
