Not a nsd today... how I even found £1.50 spare to pay for an hour of car parking is beyond me but I did.
My school shoes had fallen to bits after just 6 weeks of wear. The inner linings were worn through at the heels. Girl in the shop tried to tell me it's the way I walk - I still got my refund though. Can't help but think that I can't do much about the way I walk...
Also returned a bathrobe I'd bought for ds but changed my mind about.
It will be money back that will help get me to the end of the month. Not giving up

Home for the evening after 3 caves, two lunches out, an adventure playground, feeding ducks, a rope making display and 2 cups of coffee outside the house!! So tonight is washing and drying laundry, and then I am off again in the morning to the seaside. DH has to go to work and DS1 has masses of holiday homework so they are staying home, and me and the younger 3 are off to Norfolk. I think this is the way it is going to have to be from now on. Uni term times are not the same as school ones, and DS2 will soon be too old for seaside holidays.
DS1 is 17 today, he has had cash, and waterst0nes vouchers, so he now has 4 new books made of wood to read. He seems happy though.
Right, need to get some more clothes dry.
Hugs to all those who need them. Virtual lemon flavoured hot drinks to the others. Half term will soon come to the teachers. Chin Up!

Happy birthday to ds1 f0xh0les!:bdaycake:Here's some vegan cake.
Today I am grateful for my counsellor, for dd playing her ukulele and singing a song she made up about the suffragettes to her history class, for having clothes that dry out quickly, for finally cutting things out, for dh making chicken nugget thingies for tea (and he even bought a bag of salad leaves to have with it, bless him!), for having an easy day, for good bus connections, for an enjoyable book to read.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Evening everyone!!!
Apologies for my absence - I have had computer problems and ended up doing the dreaded 'format of the hard drive' and re-installing everything... What a pain in the !!! - but somehow also quite therapeutic - clean slate and all that!!!
Had a busy few days since last Friday and have managed to pile up a few more NSDs...
Today = NSD number 9
Thanks to Mothernerd for the posts on goal planning and life plans... I feel quite lost at the moment and at sea... I remember many years ago moving down south and the decision was inspired and it felt right... Then a few years ago moving back - I had a few nudges and again - it felt right... But now that I am here... tied up with a difficult family situation for the foreseeable future, and my mood up and down... I'm questioning things... Crazy - as I have a lovely flat, a secure job, a car etc... I should be feeling happy and settled... but I just feel empty. It's the depression I am sure... it has to be... Darker evenings... and I feel myself rushing to get in from work so I can shut the door, comfort eat and numb out on games or tv... I haven't exercised and I've just lost my mojo. On the medication but so damn tired... and feeling like I'm on a never-ending hamster wheel with no end in site. Grrrrrr. Rant over.
I've started my gratitude diary again and done mindfulness the last 2 mornings and I am going to try and keep that up. Also going to set a few small fitness goals using the SMART guidelines Mothernerd outlined earlier, and hope that these jolt me out of my slump.
On a positive note - I'm on track with my budget still and we are at the half way point... so that's good! Off to bed now as trying to make sure I get a good 8 hours sleep too! Night all⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

Hi all:j
No NSD today as my stint in the CS plus a little SM shopping so still 8/15
Achy arms after jabs & achy legs after working but getting better. No visit from friend today as she has a new puppy & didn't want to leave her with the other adult dogs atm.
Not much sorting etc either but spaces are appearing & hopefully going to join up sometime soon.
Food was bought in by DD (payday treat) but was healthy, at least ours was. She also bought a healthy dessert for all 3 of us, it was fine really.
Ordered something to wear online for MIL birthday meal with 10% off. Then saw code with 20% off. Re-ordered same items, but cheaper....
Did some more of first Cmas gift I am knitting. DH also managed to superglue a foot back onto robin decoration....
May be off out tomorrow, but yet to be decided.
gratitutes: DD picked me up from work, friend back at work from hols, easy food

Spend day yesterday as I had the dentist - a scale and polish plus replacing a filling that had fallen out. I was only charged for the scale and polish
so £11.40 spent plus £1 on parking.
The car is going in for its MOT, I've got a little money put by for it but not much so fingers crossed it won't need any work done.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.7.25 - £106,653.66

Just came across this https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6049459/it-s-never-too-early-for-a-thrifty-gifty-christmas which neatly encapsulates some of the things I've been thinking to add (looking round your house for anything that can be re-gifted or doing a cs trawl for little bits). A sort of ideas and beginners course for those who would like to try hm gifts or just spending less - it's the thought that counts and these involve more thought and less money.
Nearly all my candles come from the cs and recently bought men's white hankies for me. Successful hunts in the past have included a Shakespeare text that DS2 was doing at school (got him a university level copy which had lots of examples on the sorts of things that come up in exam questions)
Another successful quest was when DS3 loved Badminton - had to buy a set from the cash gen-err-a-tor but got two expensive raquets in seperate charity shops (he wanted 4 so that he could play with friends at home).
Only just woken up (sleeping a lot but also only sleeping late - it seems to take a whole day of being kind and gentle to myself and then about 6 or 7 in the evening I can actually get something done).
I am improving. I went up and downstairs several times yesterday but got breathless very quickly going out to the bins (stuff I really wanted out of the house). I did quite a lot of sewing (more on a sampler including tedious bits, another lavender 'bag' front done, a bit more on another and a cut to (over) size middle for a third).
Some planning for 'C'. Mum has told me how much she is giving me for 'C' so I spent some time looking at organic cotton sheets (currently using old cotton cs ones that are only singles) but didn't order (1 item only available in stores atm). Did think I might treat myself to a ride out to the nearest but think it might have been wishful thinking (Trafford Centre - no not today).
Also decided on a set limit of £10 per person. I may not stick to it but it's a guide. I've not been allowed to buy things for my sons' partners (in-law and out-law) for many years (see Sheldon and Big Bang Theory episode 'Spock DNA' for an explanation). Now one is living under my roof and the other (fellow whovian) is officially 'part of the family' and I keep wanting to 'spoil' them, especially when I find quirky things I know they will love.
On the other hand, it is a small part of how I got into this mess (debt free now but need to exercise caution especially in the current political climate where the worst off are being blamed for a crisis that was definitely NOT of their making). Need to think of it as being 'extravagant by proxy'.
Will spend more on DS3 because it's 'owed' (long overdue clothes - so far he's only asked for jeans to replace the ones that were stolen and were over ten years old anyway and more PJs). He still has not given me his current measurements (grr). I suspect he's afraid of the truth.
Congratulations on jobs and birthdays for your loved ones. Hugs for those struggling or poorly (yes I will allow a medical exemption for the dentist - ask me for anything at the moment, I have no resistance, it's all being used to assimilate this bug).
Abundant I think the urge to hibernate is so strong. You just need to concetrate on what will truly nourish you rather than temporary 'fixes' - think it's probably reversion to childhood and the need to 'be looked after' especially now that we are the ones doing the 'looking after'. I keep getting cravings for hot vimto (only for 'C' - nearly killed an elf then- Easter and to make horrible medicine go down) and worse still a sugar filled bright orange drink beginning with L that was only bought to take to the hospital. We automatically go to 'sweets' when we're under par as we were given them after falling and hurting ourselves.
Look after yourselves turtles.
Today I am grateful that it isn't raining (my niece is living in Cabo Verde and they have had flooding - it hasn't rained there in almost 2 years so the ground is packed hard and so far not absorbing the water), for feeling a lttle bit better each day and for using down time wisely (could have done without the container I was using to sort sequins tipping up 3 times). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Afternoon Turtles, #24 checking in.
The week has completely run away with me again, the merry-go-round will surely slow down soon eh, but not stop hopefully. Another 2 NSD taking me up to 10/20 NSD.
Love the 'Help' post, I have put together some gifts to re-gift C-time, we have gained two extra girlfriends onto the list of gifts this year, but have a sweet Yankee candle gift set and a soap and glory smelly set to pass on, just need 2 giftbags and maybe a newlook giftcard each or maybe not depending on funds.
Seems a lot of us are trying our best to nestle in for the winter, I know I crave a cosy evening with candles, lamps and a throw but with kids clubs and work they are far less often than I would like.
Anyway spending is going ok, groceries shopping is below budget, well under to be fair plus no corner shop top ups apart from bread. After the stress of last week this week has felt totally flat which seems odd, as thought relief would have replaced the anxiety I do have a weekend off this week with no plans so going to set a few hours aside to put a plan together at least until this side of new year.
My gratitude's have slipped last few days so will restart this evening for sure. All lunches are from home and have been all week, in fact all food this week has been home cooked and prepped. Hubby is out for the evening a treat off his boss so will use the time wisely with DS and netlfix I think.. Probably some Bear Grilz tosh but snuggled with my best mate is worth it.
If you change some money out of a savings jar you forgot you had and spend some of that is that a NSD as your money up lol (asking for a friend ha). Was hoping to steal another NSD.
Hang tight turtles xxNST October #24.
