Not a NSD here today, had some cards to pick up (2 x birthday cards, 1 x new home card) and have a fleabay parcel to send off. Going to make the most of the spend day and pick up some "C" wrapping paper if I can find any, and see if I can spot any presents for my Nan's 70th birthday.
Grateful for this morning:
- A (temporarily) empty washing basket
- A hot shower this morning when it was 6 degrees outside
- Not having caught the lurgy from OH (yet)0 -
lauren - welcome back and massive congratulations on the house, most of us here know how hard you saved for that. Sorry to hear you have been ill though.
abundant - welcome back, great news about the house.
f0xh0les - I used to love the harvest festival when my kids were in primary, it was held in the church and to finish they used to sing a rousing song about conkers which used to send the kids a bit mad. I miss those days so much.
Narola - try not to let things get on top of you. We are a very helpful and supportive bunch and many of us have been or are going through tough times too.
Ran last night and have cycled this morning. Had to wear my headscarf thing on the bike this morning, it was really cold. The sun is out though as is the washing. Made a sausage casserole in the slow cooker yesterday and there is enough left for my lunch today, also baked bread rolls. Grocery delivery is coming this afternoon, I need to post an ebay parcel and will call into the charity shop near school to buy some slipper socks for DD, they had a huge basket of BNWT ones from Aldi, lovely furry lined ones in various colours.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Good to see you abundant - you moved home to Manchester and then disappeared off the planet. Well done on getting your own home (hope you haven't developed a relationship with the big Swedish show like DS2 has - can't get through to him that as long as he still owes me money, it's my money he's actually spending. He's looking for a lodger but wants to buy a bed for the spare room. I said the lodger might have their own bed).
greent lots of small positive improvements
Narola hugs, just try to keep taking small steps in the right direction and congratulate yourself on doing so. Be king to yourself and try not to let the worry monster chew on you. Good food management system. I tried putting receipts from big shops onto the fridge and crossing off the things I used but no-one else did (and DS2 used to come from uni and empty my freezer).
sashanut our charity shops are still appealing for stuff (sometimes specific stuff men's clothing or furniture).
f0xh0les I only remember my ex wallpapering once and that was because I was so heavily pregnant that he had to help my mum paper a ceiling. He'd caused the situation because when I asked him to pull all the furniture away from the walls and paint the skirting boards whilst I was away on a course (took DS1 with me), he instead took all the books from the (3 floor to ceiling) shelves and put them in the middle of the floor. I was going to paper after I had had the baby ' just thought it would be useful to had the skirtings done when DS1 and myself would not be affected by fumes and DS1 would not get little toddler handprints all over the wet paint.
hummingbird15 Well done on buying bargain presents when you see them. It's so frustrating when you see something just right and they've sold out when you go back.
laurenh1 Mum has sucked me into bakeoff too which is why i only got home at 9.30pm. We sometimes watch cake wars but they are so agravating at times.
thrifty excellent progress on the 100 day challenge. You can cheerlead as you are 10 days ahead of us in this challenge - keep telling us it's only a blip or a slight bump in the road.
Karma I've never been a jogger, I'm just not built for it although my walking speed used to be very fast. DS1 once described me as looking like a pregnant penguin when we were rushing to get across at the traffic lights.
SSDD23 fend off the lurgy for as long as possible.
Dolly slipper socks are wonderful. Sadly another thing I'm not allowed.

This Month
LOOK AFTER YOURSELF . - gardening (physical & mental benefits)

NSD 1/15 today. Beautiful day so went out for a lovely walk in the afternoon.
Healthy eating has gone marginally better today as in less jaffa cakes but no fruit and veg so far. Definitely need to make more of an effort. I'll have veg for tea but seem to struggle to get fruit and veg throughout the day. Has anyone got any advice/tips for eating more fruit and veg at breakfast and lunch?Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Hello  and well done for all the new house purchases people - that is a massive deal! One day I hope I'll see my house as my own as well - has already cost me dearly and there's no real end in sight just yet.
Day 2 and I have been spendy - done my first grocery shop of the month - £54 for the three of us. While I was on I also ordered the cat food for the next 4-6 weeks. The budget is already dire and it's really stressing me out already. But there is literally nothing I can do about it. Ah well.
Work has been busy again but finally, in week 5, I'm starting to feel like I'm just about getting on top of things. I'm certain that won't last but I'll make the most of it for the moment. Not giving up

Evening All!!!
Thank you all for such a lovely warm welcome back! It feels like I've returned to a loving family after a long time away :grouphug: (I'm not sure what they are doing in this emoji but it looks slightly risque!!!)
Sorry I vanished abruptly... I've been here 2 years in November and the time has just gone... I don't know where. It feels like only yesterday that I was having my leaving do! It's taken me this long to adjust to life here, looking after ailing parents, adapting to a new job, and battling my own mental health demons which returned with a vengeance... not surprising after all the upheaval. Anyhow - I'm getting back on top of things, and in many ways this thread arrived at a perfect time... Certainly the self-care aspect of the challenge is something I am looking to embrace fully.
It's been lovely catching up on your threads and seeing how determined and motivated people are. That's what got me through my debt journey last time... and will again I'm sure.
So - yesterday and today I'm claiming as NSDs. I was sorely tempted in Sainsbury's whilst waiting for my prescription, and actually picked up some stuff... then thought of you lot - and about using up what I have in first... so back it all went... and I trotted home! Yay me!!! :T
TODAY =NSD number 2
I'm going to spend this evening looking through the challenges and coming up with my road map for the next 90 days... First off I'm going to plan my spend days strategically and ensure I have done a shopping list ahead of time... no impulse buys, and no more coming home with 8 bags of shopping when I only planned on a pint of milk!!! :rotfl:
Have a good evening folks!
P.S Mothernerd - Yes I have developed a symbiotic relationship with a certain Swedish household firm... Our lives are intertwined!!! Allow me just one more chest of drawers from there and then I will file for divorce I promise!!!⭐ DEBT FREE : 18/02/2025 ⭐

Today I am grateful for spearing a frog at work (no, not one of the pupils, although several of them had me tempted...), for being very useful indeed, for a crisp day - proper autumnal stuff, for acorn cups, for chatting with dd, for earning some extra pennies, for a friend lending me some good books, for 85% chocolate - always!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Not a NSD day for me today. £1.79 on a pearl wedding anniversary card for Mum and Stepdad. My Mum was the same age as I am now when she married my Stepdad.:) £9 spent on 40 YS sausages at M&S (not reduced by much but I like them, they are GF and cheaper than 3 for £10 at Asda) and £62 spent on 2 fillings and all the trimmings at the dentist this morning. I now look like this
Attended a meeting at school about an event DS may be selected to take part in in the summer. If he is selected DH will accompany him and will cost £400 for the pair of them. It will be a great opportunity for both of them and make some fantastic memories.
The curtain rail and curtains fell down in our bedroom last night, just as we were going to bed. Not good when there is a streetlight directly across the road! The ceiling in the bay window just isn’t strong enough to hold it and is going to need replastering and repainting. We are hoping to repurpose a curtain pole from our living room to hang across the bay rather than around it. The curtains maybe a little short this way but they will have to do.
I have updated the ‘stores’ list and updated the mealplan.
I have a couple of days away with work so will ponder the questions about the next 90 days posed by mothernerd and make some notes in my notebook.
Today I am grateful for a fabulous NHS dentist, tea and toast and DH making tonight's meeting.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
