    Hi All,

Coming back with my tail between my legs, i have been quite unwell the last couple of months, suffering from extreme acid reflux, trapped wind & a lot of throwing up, some tests have come back positive for IBD (Crohns amongst others) but I can't get any form of appointment at the hospital even though I have been referred, hub has been away, Grandad died, so generally a full on time. I know this sounds woe is me, it isn't meant to - because here I am sticking my head above the covers once more in an attempt to get back into the swing of things! and it isn't all bad news WE HAVE BOUGHT A HOUSE, hurrah!! :j:j and we are just waiting on a date to exchange.

I hope you guys are all well, i will read back though the comments properly tonight if I get 5 mins :)

Budget- set, I have a £200 grocery budget and money put aside for all the things I can think of, food, my little ones 3rd Birthday, my husbands MOT , swimming lessons etc.

I need to audit my cupboard this week & do a meal plan, I have added it to my frog list :)

Focus- what do I want to happen? I would like to get the keys to our house and make a start on decorating it etc. I would also like to feel a bit better so I am going to keep pushing, I am at the Drs for more tests next week , my indicators for IBD fluctuate quite a lot so they want to take them again to see if they are stable.

Debts- none, savings, none. In my defence I am about to spend 20k on house deposit & solicitors fees but Im afraid my 1k emergency budget was wiped out last week by my car so I have nul points. :rotfl:
Mend & make do- I mentioned to a friend that id like to buy some children's gardening things for the new house for my 3 year old & she has, amazingly, brought me a kids wheel barrow & brush, it needs a scrub but I am over the moon with it :D

Do one thing each day for you- I am going to read tonight.
Be kind- had my friends little one last night to help her out.

Gratitudes- I am grateful for - being able to buy a house & how lucky we are to have such a luxury in todays climate, for my 3 year old and his little red nose poking out of his big puffy jacket and for my lovely friend making me some chutney, YUM.

Hugs laurenh1, I hope the doctor's find out what is wrong and you feel better soon. I was diagnosed with IBD (ulcerative colitis) a few months ago, unfortunately I was so ill that I needed to have an operation but I now feel better than I have done for years. Congratulations on buying a house :D

A spend day today as I walked to the next village and back to get a few things including some lovely bacon from the butchers which I had in a sarnie for lunch :D. Healthy eating has not gone particularly well today, as well as the bacon sarnie, I have had crisps and half a packet of jaffa cakes :o and no fruit or veg has been consumed :o. Spag bol for tea so planning to put lots of veg in the sauce and also make an apple crumble for pudding.

I've also done an online supermarket shop today which will be delivered on Friday morning. Once I'm back home and completed the audit, I can see what else we need.

  • Hello
Well, I have managed day 1 of October. Another mad busy day at work but very productive. My week at work is planned. My frogs from work are mostly dealt with (couple of calls to make and forms to fill in), I've made a solicitor's appointment and sorted out dates/times and visits for what is looking like a very busy October indeed. At least though there is a plan of action and much of it is paid for well in advance - however, it does all seem to have come at once.
NSD for me, freezer is audited and plans are made - winter is indeed coming. Sooner than I would like as well... :o
I am trying to keep going as I always do

Thank you mothernerd for those thought provoking quotes.

So today I am seriously pulling my turtle head out of the sand and have started off looking at finances. The credit card situation has to change and the balance must be reversed. Today I have sold my beloved little vespa (which wouldve been out of action for the winter anyway) and have paid a chunk of the cc. I have also cancelled the mortgage overpayments which will increase my income - what is the point of investing with one hand and paying out on debt with the other..

All important payments are already made. The preliminary budget reveals another tight month ahead. 3 and a bit weeks before pay day and the first roll out of overtime included. £30 is set aside for fuel and £100 for food, thankfully there is no fun on the cards this month as my turtle legs intends to keep soldiering on with the overtime. On days off I'll target the frog list and stay away from the coffee shops (a weakness of mine) and log every spend if I go to the shops.

With these strict few weeks ahead, i will make time for myself for half an hour each day and think of all the things I am grateful for - either by communing with nature walking around the little local pond or relaxing with my salt lamp on at night before sleep :A

My budget has been set, there isn’t much left after the bills have been paid due to an error with my tax code leaving us £600 short this month. This should have been the first month we paid a chunk of an OP to the debt following the Barefoot Investor method and I am so disappointed. :(. All debts paid by DD and minimum payments will be met. EF is in place, really don’t want to dip into it this month but have £99 to pay out for school things and I need a filling quite urgently as I put it back last month thinking I would have the money this month.

I have listed the freezer/cupboards and done a meal plan as we are cutting it to the bone this month. Luckily we are doing Stoptober so that will save a few quid.

I have a few things on my frog list including transferring a savings bond of DS into his ISA, fixing a bed, organising a baptism and upcycling a cupboard.

Increase income - I am looking for a job with a higher salary.

Next 90 Days - my focus is on living within our budget and paying down the debt. I am really pi**ed off about being in debt again so hoping I can use that anger to motivate me to get rid of it. I will set a target for debt pay down by the end of the year when I have custody of the laptop from DS again.

I want to get back into reading as I only read 1 book in September, borrowed it off DH and it was pants. I read so much in July and August I think I needed a rest. ;) Will go to the library tomorrow.

I have written all the October tasks and 90 day questions in my notebook and will be working through them as I go along. I want to take them time to really think about some of the questions posed as they are really relevant to the way I am thinking about my life at the moment. Oooooo that sounded a bit deep :rotfl:
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
  • First NSD in the bag today, made my dinner from fridge/freezer stores, some nice fish and baby corn & mange tout :)

Cracked open our money pot today to see how much we've got to put towards Christmas presents - this has very much been a spontaneous "as and when" contribution pot, and we have a small kitty of £70 to put towards some gifts, which is better than nothing

I have [STRIKE]told [/STRIKE]suggested to OH that if we put in £5 a week starting soonish, we will have £520-£600 depending on when we decided to start the shopping next year. Much more helpful ;)

I was going to go to the gym tonight, but I have made a deal with myself that if I try some yoga at some point this evening, that's working towards my monthly goals and trying something new, and I get to avoid the miserable weather outside :p

Going to have a rummage through things tonight and see if I can fleabay any of it, other than that I'm just watching a film called "Otherhood" on Netflix, and chilling :)

Oh... blitzing the washing this evening, too.

Toay I am grateful for an active day, for speaking a frog (putting up 2 pieces of wallpaper with dh, which we'd scraped off to check on the now-cleared-up damp), for not getting wet, for having a car, for being able to walk a lot, for starting with an nsd.
