A warm welcone to Turtletober everyone. Turtle life can be tough but it also becomes adictive and it's definitely the place to be for those who are serious about debt-busting, buying their own property, paying off the mortgage, retiring early, building savings or just living long enough to get that bl**!y pension but who also want to live their best possible life - we only get one after all and have fun.

Everyone should have a number- let me know if I've missed you out.

thrifty ouch to the disappearing job. Hope you and XSpender both find something quickly.

Purplesocks a good plan and an excellent start with the savings. Good luck with the 'talk' with OH.

f0xh0les I hope you aren't breeding frogephants' we have enough to contend with.

Justforme I think losing excess lbs is on many of our lists.

laurenh1 congratulations on the house purchase, boo to nasty illness.

misstara my healthy eating is a bit hit and miss. Crrently eating everything in the freezer as someone left the door open (more than once) and there is no alternative to emptying it completely and defrosting it

ccl Hugs and more hugs. It will all happen eventually.

PheoniX Well done on selling the Vespa. That level of commitment will take you far.

SSDD23 I will be discussing the 'C' word this weekend. WE don't use the whole word because Father Chris Mouse has to shoot an elf every time some mentions the 'C' word before November. However £70 is bether than nothing and thinking about it now is better than waiting for your December payday (or 'C' Eve as my ex always used to).

bizzie Yes work through the list, do the things you know you can and attempt some of the things you think you can't

I had a slow morning. I've had creaky knees for several days and this morning was worse. It's such fun starting each day with an inventory of which parts of your body are working. Gave them a quick spray with heat rub which helped but then they went very hot.

Nearly phoned mum to say I wasn't going but I checked her fridge yesterday and it was a bit bare. Tried to get to Icy Land, went in Her0n instead (half the distance), even tried the mini SM type shop but they only had one not very nice pack of ham and 2 blocks of cheese.

Her0n is quite good for cooked meat but it tends to sell out quickly so checked those items first - 4 different cooked meats and 3 different cheeses (nothing exotic but Red leicester, Double Gloucester and one other - many shops only seem to do 6 different types of cheddar)

plus yoghurts, packet rice, milk and some spicy chicken lumps for me - I knew mum wanted a beef in black bean sauce I picked up off the ys shelf last Friday and would like it with rice (her visitor overcooked the last one in the cupboard on Saturday) so I looked for something I could have with the other half of the rice.

It's a mum spend because I was to eat it at her house and I've taken things on other days for us both to eat so I had a SFD.

Told her when I got there that I might not stay. I wanted to do the new curtains but it means a lot of time up the step ladder and I didn't feel up to it. I said I would read and sew for a bit and then attempt the curtains or go home early and go back tomorrow to fix the curtains.

I stayed in the end. I put the bin out for collection, repotted the bedding plants with extra drainage (in between rain showers), used a few things from the shed and have brought the step ladders indoors. I suggested going through the jigsaws and sending any she wouldn't want to do again, back to the charity shop. She said I should decide so I've brought 2 bags for life home with me.

I've already taken all the VHS tapes and DVDs out of the cupboards to see if anty of her partner's children of grandchildren want them (after that we ask my brother and anything left gets charity shopped or binned). I got told off for taking all her partner's things out of the cupboard (her partner died at Easter but we are waiting until his son feels up to going through his remaining stuff). I have tried to gather things together (one of them might want his darts as a keepsake). One of the things was a million candle power torch. Last weekend his son saw it and asked what it was - he took it thinking it would be good for his daughter who has just bought a small tent.

I had to put 10 bags for life (or equivalent) in the 6' x 4' shed in order to accomodate the new bed. mum wants to do a furniture shuffle but she things take up less space in her head than they do in real life (I think she never allows room for walking from one place to another). I think we are overdue for a big clearout but I know it tires her out (just thinking about it) so will go slowly.

Also did more colouring in on the 'bathers'. A long while ago I bought two figures of an elderly man and woman who were still young at heart. After many years in the garden they have lost all their colour. Today was my second atempt at giving them some colour back and they must have dried out thoroughly as they took the colour much better. She now has an orange bathing cap, a dark red swimsuit and green grass to stand on whilst he has a red paddling pool, turqoise water and knotted hanky, a royal blue swimsuit and a silver beard.

Today I am grateful for a prompt taxi, that I put my own bin out before I went out and for old films and pleasant sitcoms.

    Hi all:j

I'm another one who has no idea bout GoT ,but the ideas are fine with me, I just haven't had time today to go through the list fully.

Today is my stint in the CS which was rammed as per usual. We have 2 enormous bins - for want of a better word - up against the walls in the back of the shop. These come out from the wall & are constructed with sliding panels on the fronts, so you can keep in the contents. All the donation sacks/bags are chucked in these & we normally work from one side. Today both huge areas were full, and I spent my entire time trying to clear the floor area in front of the bins of donations, with little success as yet more stuff was wheeled in.

Back home shattered & then out for DHs birthday meal, so definitely not an NSD today. Have one more birthday in October, but no events planned as yet.

Did first sm shop of the month, will need to inventory & sort all freezers etc. Hopefully will need nothing more than fresh items as we have so much stuff, and need to reduce.

Hopefully will press on with the clearing, did take one bag of books to CS today, plus a few bits of bric-a-brac which is our biggest seller by far so they are always happy to see that.

Will have to go to bank tomorrow as DH managed to block our joint account by failing the security questions, happy days.

Keep on turtling folks, more input tomorrow..

    Morning

Managed to get through Day 1 with NO Spends apart from the normal bill payments going out. And the same planned for Day 2. The reality is I have no spare money to buy anything extra anyway as trying to get out of overdraft

At the moment I feel like my stomach is in knots all the time and it's paralyzing. But I am trying to put one foot in front of the other ...

Food inventory is completed. I have the lists on the fridge and when I use something I cross it off the list and when I shop I add to the list so it's always up to date. I am working to a meal plan, so far so good.

Doing surveys at the moment, finding Valued Opinions the most helpful. I am cashing out in Tesco vouchers which I then use for groceries but then I also reduce the budget accordingly. Not much to sell, but trying on Facebook groups. hit and miss I am afraid. not sure what other income boosting I can do.

was planning on a grocery budget of £85 pw but I need to reduce this even further, will aim for £70

Toay I am grateful for an active day, for speaking a frog (putting up 2 pieces of wallpaper with dh, which we'd scraped off to check on the now-cleared-up damp), .

Woah!! Your marriage is stronger than mine. Dh tried to help me put up wallpaper once, we got as far as the plumb line and I was considering divorce and sent him downstairs for the benefit of his continued survival. I wallpaper in our house now. He makes the tea. He has only electrocuted me once while I was painting the ceiling and he turned the electric back on to make the tea. I do love him though.

Abundant!! welcome back - I was wondering about you the other day, and all your rainbow posts.

Well yesterday was spendy, and that was fine, today mortgage was overpaid a little to tidy it down. It is dh's birthday so I will do a cherry tart, an apple crumble, and a chocolate brownie, because they are all things I have the ingredients for in the pantry or freezer that I do not need to shop for. And they all go with 50p salted caramel almond icecream from Her0n. Looks expensive, in reality, pennies.

As it is the only dry and sunny day this week I have stripped the top floor beds and they are all drying on the line. I skipped out of Harvest festival this morning, DS4 said it was not up to much and he would not rate it - last year was an absolute showstopper - they did I want to grow beans to the tune of I want to Break Free, it was brilliant. This year not so much so (the kids inform me) so I had a dispensation for not going and I do not feel in the slightest bit guilty. Was surprised at how many other people skipped out too. I gave a cabbage, a bag of pears, a bag of apples and a bag of bananas for them to sell to the kids and they give the money to the foodbank. Ds4 will no doubt return home with something he will not eat but that looks cute. Swine.

So, on with the baking and cleaning and laundering.

Still waiting for locksmith to get back to me about my misbehaving car.....

Hugs Narola. Be kind to yourself. How many are you feeding for your budget?

  • Good morning!
Yesterday was NSD #1. Aiming for 20 this month.

We did a big shop on sunday and have £88 left until 25th for fresh food. Cupboard items already purchased and meal plan done up till 15th using up cupboard and freezer stuff.

Having a new front door fitted this afternoon. They dont take payment until you're happy with it and that's been set aside for a couple months. When I pay that I'll try tie it in with next shop to keep the spend days together.

I'm on maternity leave right now but have a work meeting this morning to discuss returning and flexible stuff in Feb. Annoyed a parking charge will ruin my otherwise planned nsd.

Christmas shopping is well underway although no budget for it this month. Will continue to take notes and keep my eyes on bargains though. We dont buy for a huge amount of people thank goodness.

    Will check in later :)

Thanks Guys. Hello adundant and well done on your lovely new home. :T:T:T Misstara that makes me feel loads better, thank you, and I am glad you are feeling better too :)

Budget- nothing has changed, I haven't spent anything today, nor am I planning on- bringing me to NSD number 1. Hurrah.
Audit Cupboard & meal plan- this is my main task for tonight.
My one thing a day for myself changed from reading to bake off, I sat and watched it while cleaning the kids new wheelbarrow (one of my frogs) and their other gardeny bits. I am really chuffed how lovely it all looks. I also added a few more things to my fog list :)
Be kind- offered to go & pick my friend up on Saturday- we are off for a shopping trip, not really MSE but I honestly can't remember the last time I went shopping and I have tried to make a list of things I would buy anyway like christmas gifts so I'm not just spending for no reason.
Gratitude- grateful for - decaf tea ,my husband being home this weekend and for lying in bed this morning with the kids snuggled down in our duvets , rudely disturbed by the fact we do actually have to go to school/nursery/work ;)

Have a lovely day all :):)

    Good morning,

little spend yesterday as I was out of washing up liquid and totally forgot to get some with the big shop. It was even on the list. NSD today but will treat friend to inexpensive birthday lunch tomorrow.

Signed up for a new Amaz0n seller account as my old one got deactivated. Might put my SLR on after the holiday and see what else I can find. Got fed up with eB@y years ago so thought I might try that. Gym today.

Getting on well with 100 day challenge managed at least 8/10 days for each item I set out to change (no drinking, IF, getting up early, crochet or read.....got 8 categories)
