Ahh so it DOES make a difference once you've actually placed an order with another company. Just done that, so I shall wait and see. Thanks.
Hope you get a similar result.
All my services with sky are now discounted, variety tv & hd half price, and now line rental free and fibre half price. £27.62 a month :j0 -
Just kicked off a switch to VM last night using the uSwitch deal and got a mail from BT today saying they're going to sting me for £65 for my equipment; last year my BB had problems getting up and running so seems like the contract is misaligned (my line rental saver date comes up earlier).
So... I'll leave it for a week; the current BT deals aren't quite what I'm after. If they don't have anything better next Wednesday then I'll bump out the virgin install date and stick to plan A.
If BT come up with something better, I'll stick with them. The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster!

Having looked back through recent posts I thought I'd share my experience, which is similar to others who point out that the 'MSE Blagged' links aren't always the best overall deal.
I have opted for BT (never thought I'd be saying that...) - £194 for the up front line rental, and £5 a month for Broadband including weekend calls. So far so good, and as per the MSE guide, they will also send me a £50 Mastercard (all being equal), so including the £6.95 P+P (why do they all charge this for their 'free' routers by the way...?!?) we get to £211 for the year. But just now Quidco have a very generous £130 cashback (which has already tracked by the way, always a nervous few minutes...) which means the overall cost is now down to £81 for the year, or a shade under £7 a month.
Not the absolute cheapest anyone has managed, but I am more than happy.
My point? Yes MSE points you in the right direction, but there is plenty more money to be saved...
Happy broadbanding!0 -

I'd echo that. My very similar BT Superfast Broadband + TV deal is costing THEM just over £10 for the full year after taking £189 Quidco and a £125 Sainsbury voucher into account!
I expected to pay something, but to make a profit of £10 on the deal somehow makes up for the appalling customer service BT mete out.
Much more expensive in year tow - but I won't be staying!0 -
Thanks for the heads-up on the BT Quidco cashback which makes BT cheaper than any of MSE's top picks. I've just placed my order for the broadband to switch the day after my current EE contract expires. Can someone who's changed over to BT confirm that the following is correct for a 12 month broadband and phone deal with unlimited calls?
From BT's website it's a one off line rental charge of £194.28 ( A bit steep for line rental) plus £7.95 for unlimited calls, which means a total payment of £289.68 ( What about the router as don't really need one as use an Apple Airport linked to a TalkTalk wireless router - don't want or need TV)
From my calculation, if I take the £50.00 MasterCard cutback offer and Quidco Cashback offer, my total money returned is £180.00 (minus Quidco £5.00 charge), which means we have a telephone, broadband and unlimited calls for £9.50 per month.
Can someone confirm the above is correct?
Based on next best deal for us with SSE, over 18 month contract I'd be paying £16.60 per month once all cutback taken into account (SSE line rental being £16.00 per month and unlimited calls £5.00 per month, six months of this contract being free.
I'm currently with Plusnet who will not match SSE on costs over a 18 month contract and BT seems cheaper than SSE over 12 months.
Don't want TalkTalk and having looked at the Post Office, which is subcontracted to TalkTalk, seems BT now is best offer?
Again, need to change over by 9th February with final Plusnet payment being taken this week - had a great introduction deal with Plusnet last year, good service, but cannot justify cost of staying with them for a 18 month contract if can get BT total package for £9.50 per month - Plusnet being £16.00 per month with Value Line Rental, BB for £3.00 per month and unlimited calls for a fiver per month I think.0 -
Note.
I worked the BT package out wrong, should add another £5.00 per month to it, but still unlimited broadband and unlimited calls to UK phone numbers for less than £15.00 per month with all cutbacks and offers is still cheap compared to many other offers - so seems I'll opt for BT Infinity package, although annoyed they only include the Home Hub 4 in the package - if home hub 5 it would have been better value.0 -

It's difficult to comment on particular deals with BT, really, because they're constantly changing. The one I mentioned above lasted for a couple of weeks, as I recall, then went away to be replaced by a poorer deal - though it returned a month or so later.
One thing to check with BT is that you're getting the one of the unlimited broadband packages - that comes and goes, too, and the limited packages can prove very expensive if you go over the limit (not difficult).0 -
I wonder if anyone can advise. I've just moved. Have two autistic children for whom internet is as essential as breathing. They use YouTube all the time so high data useage.
I've been using plusnet fibre (top package due to high speeds), still in contract to them at the old address until September 2016. When I phoned them last week, they said I was further away from the nearest box so could only offer up to 40Mbps rather than the 70 I was getting, no discounts that I had gotten previously but because I'd been with them for two years without moving, they wouldn't charge me for moving the service (but apparently the BT line is live anyway so not sure there would be any).
They are just going to give notice to the previous person's provider and send a router.
But overall, its actually going to cost me a little bit more (cause I've lost the discount I had before), for lower speeds (nothing can be done about that). Unfortunately a few things have gone wrong with the move so I just don't have the head space to try and sift through the various sites and compare all the details like price, whether unlimited really is unlimited, if they provide to this area etc.
I do have sky TV but hardly use it..,we all watch TV on the PC one way or another. If I could I'd cancel it lol.
The reason I have tended to use Plusnet is because of the lack of capping, unlimited is really unlimited. So unsure if I am best staying with them. It will be a new 18 month contract. Not sure if I can still cancel (phoned them Thursday last week, no service provided to this address as yet, got til 22 til even phone is provided).0 -
BT are offering a good Fibre 38Mb deal presently and Quidco are offering a large cash-back for new BT users, just a shame Plusnet can't downgrade you and your present contract.0
