Oh lawdy I am stuffed!!! Got to the restaurant to meet friends a bit before 7 and left at 10 - non stop eating, drinking and chatting in between. I shared a meze with one other - so between us there was a large bowl of salad full of feta, tomatoes etc, pitta bread, taramasalata, tatzaki, humous, olives, more tomatoes. Dish of hot garlic mushrooms. meat balls and sausages. calamari and whitebait. chicken souvlaki and onions. baklava and another dessert whose name I forgot but similar to baklava. The others were having starters and mains (moussaka, souvlaki, domades) which meant they were brought more salad and rice and plates of roasted potatoes. Don't know if some of the potatoes were intended as part of the meze but I didn't make room for them. Wine, ouzo, beer, thick coffee. Pleased that we all had similar amounts of food etc so just split the bill rather than doing an exact calculation which while sometimes necesssary is always tedious. @glad will definitely make this next time vegan son visits, the trouble is whenever I make his food, everyone else wants to try too, so giant portions needed 🤣
@Brie, that’s my kind of meal out 🙌
We’ve decided to walk up to our nearest pub for dinner, although the foods good, it’s very errm ‘brown’ ie very carb heavy - I’m hoping that they’ve added a few salads back into the mix - last year they did a rare roast beef and blue cheese salad with was AMAZING 🤩 so 🤞Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

We go to The Propeller sometimes for a meal when on holiday in Bembridge, I always found it not too bad at all. We are off to the IoW in five weeks time for a couple of weeks so lots of walks along Yaverland beach with the dogs.
As I have swapped lunch and dinner around, at lunchtime today it will be a large salad as I really do like salads and mine will be shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cucumber, beetroot, grated red Leicester, a decent dollop of red pepper humous that I got on Tuesday from Sainsburys, its quite spicy and a pot was only a pound so its my treat of the week.
Plus some baby salad potatoes and some wafer thin shredded ham.
I shall have that around 1.30pm, and it fills me up so by 6.00pm I will usually just have perhaps some soup and crackers. and some fruit or a pudding.
I find changing my meal times around means I didn't get indigestion quite so much, plus all the washing up is done by 6,30 and I can sit down and relax for the rest of the evening .No cooking at ll requiredEating my main meal during the day has suited me better.
I'm slowly working my way through the freezer and food cupboards, and buying very little foodwise at the moment. So extra cash will go towards our holidays

JIL said:There were problems with the original thread in that it disappeared and could not be reinstated.
So a new thread was created and we all started again, unfortunately that thread also seems to have joined it's predecessor.
So here's a new one. We need to hear about Suki's lamb casserole and Island Maid is back from Amsterdam and must have delights to tell us about.
Maybe if the old one can be found then this can be merged?
Anyway without further ado...4 -
I tried ‘The Batch Lady’ burgers tonight and it’s a no from us. The recipe needs more layers of flavour - fried onions and some paprika and onion powder for flavour.
The onion rings, skin-on fries and sweet potato fries were yummy though. And cheaper than a McD’s! We ate out a number of times in the iow and every meal was excellent. I'm already wanting to go back!! I have decided that when I retire, me and husband and dogs are going for a minimum of 3 weeks.
Dinner tonight was last nights leftover roasted veg mixed with pasta and mozzarella. It was very nice.4 -
I have a pack of Korean style chicken kebabs to cook tonight - will do some jacket potatoes while the oven is on and roast the veggies that are needing to be used.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45
