Kids are away this weekend, they’ve found a place to rent, just awaiting the normal reference checks 🤞
Bought a pair of Tomapork chops, so them on BBQ with watercress salad and some Padron peppers. Chilled melon for pud.PS I know is personal preference but I don’t rate the Propeller Inn, for food in that area of the Island, I’d recommend the Yar Bridge pub, or the Culver Inn - both are doing amazing food at the moment 👍Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

OH was saying how he's going to be so busy today as he has to prep dinner which he has intended to do as chicken basted (or cooked?) in red wine with mushrooms and lardons (so coq au vin?). I had to go out to get the mushrooms and lardons and he didn't mention anything else to go with it so I've picked up an emergency pack of bake at home baguettes. There's some mini ice cream magnumlikes in the freezer for afters.
That said he then decided to move furniture around from various rooms so is a bit knackered. And I had to help of course so there goes my back and any plans I had for gardening.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Oh no @Brie - poor you! Back pain is just horrible, I hope you are better soon.
We also have a busy day today, more clearing of late father-in-law’s house which seems never ending due to his propensity for hoarding, and which is obv emotional for Mister CJ. It will need to be an easy meal tonight as I will be knackered, so I have one of Aldi’s frozen salmon en croute things to chuck in the oven and some asparagus and tenderstem broccoli to go with it. We too have Magnum-looky-likeys if pud is wanted.
We are off to a barbecue tomorrow lunchtime and I foolishly offered to bring home made tiramisu, chocolate brownies and potato salad - so I need to make those before I collapse in a heap tonight too!3 -
I have tonight's dinner cooked - lo from yesterday - jacket potato + roasted veggies + chicken kebab.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

@Brie my husband gets back issues all the time and is in absolute agony with it. He actually had an MRI to find out what the issue was, followed by physiotherapy that really helped but it's just now affected another area. Hope you soon feel better.
Today its pork, and the usual Sunday accompaniments. Although daughter will be moaning because its bbq weather apparently.3 -

Snap to the pork but I agree with your daughter and I'm wondering whether I should do it on the bbq. Just need the OH to hook up the new tank of propane after replacing the new connector hose. @Brie hope you are on the mend, and are being kept hydrated (🍾🥂🍸🍹🧊) in this weather - maybe a little hand bell to alert Mr B that you need a refill 🤣
Weather is HOT and we’re loving it - dinner will be later once it cools a bit - BBQ steak and a French style carrot salad. Quick pickled some sad looking cucumber too - love this time of year, so easy 👍Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

BTW - what's a french style carrot salad? I need some new salad ideas - OH is happy with iceberg, cuke and tomato, maybe some onion but it rarely goes beyond that. I'll make a mushroom & tomato vinagrette if we're having a crowd (rarely) or have made panzanella salad if I've got some nice stale bread and the rest.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards.
