Earlier on he said soup and sandwiches. Just now he's said since his car is still at the garage I'm the one that has to go get the fish and chips. Am I the only one whose life is like this?

@Brie - you're making me feel grateful for being single! I hope you enjoyed the fish and chips at least even if your company was being irritating.

I made Yotam Ottolenghi's Confit Leeks this evening and it was absolutely sensational although it's not very photogenic and looked just like the recipe photo so I haven't bothered snapping away with my phone. I ate it with a big green salad dressed with the leftover lemon juice and some plain cous cous.

This evening I made this Extra-Billowy Dutch Baby from Deb Perelman's Smitten Kitchen site and it was lovely. The first photo is how it came out of the oven initially and the second is after I'd dumped greens, red pepper paste, romano peppers and smoked scamorza on it and popped it back into the oven for five minutes.

Then this is a lovely, funny poem that was on the wall at the community centre where I go to yoga classes, I thought you'd all enjoy it.

Only problem, is I think we only have one squirrel for 40 families here, otherwise our idiot leaders would actually recommend it (in the South they still do eat squirrel). Now slug-wise, there might be something there as I understand from our local Department of Agriculture that the snails here were brought over from French to raise for eating. However, I have never gotten into escargot. We do have dandelions and sorrel as well as other nice greens in our lawn if it ever becomes necessary. I would like to take a course in wild foods first though.

Never heard of Borek.! It looks fab. I am booked onto 'a wild garlic forage ' end of this month.

I made some roasties with the potatoes from my veg box as a treat and popped the wild garlic borek back into the oven for the last ten minutes to get it nicely crisped up again. I also made a salad with some lamb's lettuce from my veg box and ate the last of the purple sprouting broccoli and brussels sprouts. Had some stewed rhubarb and blackberries, which I'd hoicked out of the freezer, with yoghurt and almonds for pudding.

Eaten on my lap on the sofa because I was too lazy to lay the table.

We had roast pork last evening. It was half price at Taxco with a club card so at least 2 night's dinners for about £4. Had roasties with it too. I had planned on roasting some carrot too but the carrot was beyond hope so got binned - I hate it when I need to do that. Looked at the other veg in the freezer and the only alternative was peas which I do like.

Trying to decide what to have with the pork this evening - there's some roasties that didn't get used (yes I buy the frozen) but OH might prefer a pork baguette. I will offer the potato cakes that are in the freezer from Lidl - they are very nice and we need to use them at some point!

When I was looking for veg I did come across a relative of borek - some sort of savoury cheese bites with phyllo also from Lidl. Amazing what's in the freezer - we do need to clear it completely at some point!!!

Had pretty much the same as yesterday for dinner today followed by yet more of the rhubarb which I'm beginning to get a bit bored with because I'm eating it for breakfast too. I feel as though I should have frozen it in several smaller containers instead of one very large one, hey ho I'm sure I'll finish it eventually and there is now quite a big space in the freezer.

think it will be a freezer clean out. when looking yesterday I noticed there are, I think, 4 single pieces of breaded/battered/dusted frozen fish in there. These are the result of OH wanting to have 2 pieces and me only 1, hence there's always 1 left over. OH would likely just bin these but I'm not so inclined. There's also a few tiddly bags of chips as there's a tendency to open a new bag without finishing off ones already open. No wonder the freezer is so cluttered!!!

So depending on how many pieces of fish he can find (dare I mention male pattern blindness???) he can have those and I might end up having the single Lidl schnitzel that's in there too. And he might have chips and I'll finish the potato gruyere cakes that I opened yesterday.

I am unfortunately needing to cut out a lot of vegetables that are disagreeing with my digestion so no coleslaw and likely no other salad for me. Trying to figure out what I can eat - nothing with onions or garlic is the hardest thing to adjust to. And anything lentil or bean related, cabbage, cauliflower, and similar are being avoided too. I think I'm ok with tomatoes and courgettes so that's a good thing.
