Hi - just checking if anyone thinks I should be holding out for a better deal or not if that’s ok?

Currently on Sky + for 104 pounds a month. Sky tv and sports. HD, kids and cinema. Plus super fast broadband.

We liked the idea of Sky stream so as my contract was ending I called a couple of weeks ago to be offered stream and super fast with all that I currently have for 75 pounds a month. But that they couldn’t process it then as I was still 3 days over a month to go of the current contract so they said they would phone me to complete in 3 days time.

They never called so I phoned up to be told the best they could do was 120 for Sky +, w or stream. I said I’d cancel instead if they couldn’t listen back to the call and give me the original offer (or close to).

Called back a few days later to see if any better offer might be available. Was offered 92 a month for stream (new customer offer) by someone in the retention team - they then transferred me to the stream team who said “no, 104 a month is the best deal”!!!

Tried again today and they offered 95 for q or 98 for stream.

Feel really annoyed how they keep changing their offers depending on who I speak to.

Sorry for the long post but is stream for 98 a month and the package I’ve described a good deal or a rubbish one?

    Cheers - Andrew
Called to cancel today and they made no effort at all to keep me. So either I am terrible at negotiating (quite possible!) or they are giving out fewer good deals (particularly on stream). Hey ho, off to search for a replacement for the first time in 17 years!
I think that (from previous seemingly endless negotiations) that the best deals are offered after you have cancelled. The Retentions (or whatever name) and the Winback teams tend to be able to offer the best deals. The Winback team seem to get the best offers, unsurprisingly. When I last negotiated there was seemingly little movement when a price point from a Winback member had been reached even if I knew other customers had better deals. The movement that I managed to get them to concede came over getting credits for things like 'admin fees' and then when they messed something up after agreeing a monthly amount, a credit instead of lowering the monthly amount. But the number of credits I got after their continual errors made it just about worthwhile the misery of phoning them back about things - always a real trial as it's almost impossible to get one agent to follow an offer through to being 'completed'.
So basically keep going until you're happy with their price (keep notes of amounts promised, they will have it written on your account call log), I think we went a couple of weeks on freesat before re-signing.
  • The win back team just called. Offered me 6 pounds more on stream than last offered and one pound less on Q! Think they may be trying to drive me insane! Said no-one would call me back now as I’ve had such a bad experience. Great!
  • Just called to Cancel
Signature, sports, uhd/hd, & multiroom Pay £56 now, best offer £63
less sport on it now than I used to watch.
only £7 but it's the principle, see what they come back with.
otherwise will go with nowtv and freeview .
  • I recently renewed with Sky, taking out Sky Stream and Superfast Broadband (fastest available to our address). They sent us one of the older hubs, the ER115 Sky Q Hub from 2016 (aka "Sky Hub 3.0" I think). Is this normal?

I asked them if a new customer would get this router, as opposed to the newer SR203 Sky Broadband Hub from 2019, and they said for the package I took out they would. Even though I took out another 18-month TV and Broadband package, I had to beg just for a replacement router, because our current router (SR102, Sky Hub 2, 2013) was constantly dropping the connection.

I've got a hunch that they're feeding me BS about new customers getting this old hub, and sent me this one from an old stockpile which they probably only use for current customers. Am I being paranoid? What hubs have other people been sent, and does anyone know any new Sky customers to see what they're actually getting?
  • My contract is due to end on 29 September. Sky  said the price for exactly the same package would increase from £60 a month to over £70 (broadband and sport , no Cinema etc). I have been with them over 16 years. They didn't even try to offer me any deals - implied they were being honest and helpful telling me to go elsewhere. It is all due to finish on Friday and I'm tempted just to let it - although I am a bit worried about the Broadband (they did send me an offer for £17.50 a month for Sky Broadband Superfast - no idea if that is good or not?) .

I wondered whether other people are having similar experiences? I have been speaking to the 0333 759 4840 number- no idea whether that is the win back team or not. How do people know who they are speaking to? I have always been happy with the service from Sky  it's just the feeling of being a bit ripped off by the relentless  price increases?
  • If you're worried about broadband - deal with that separately, and just let TV cancel. Then either renew broadband with Sky, or go elsewhere.

Hi - When I took out my subscription in April 2022 on an 12 month contract (see package below), my bill was 42.50. On 27 April 2023 they increased the bill to 55.15 and currently the normal price without discount is £93. Unfortunately my Sky subscription expired 2-3 months ago but due unforseen circumstances, I was so busy that I missed the cancellation date and unable to cancel. So anyway, I spoke to Sky on 08/09/2023 and cancelled as the cheapest they offered was around £75. Currently they are offering me Sky Signature & Cinema for £26 (with a one off fee of £10 - dunno what this is!). I'm holding out to before the cancellation date which is towards the end of next week. The £26 offer is the only offer I have had so far!

    Cheers,
    Imran

  • Folks would appreciate some advice before I get on to Sky... both my Sky TV and Fibre contracts have finished so I'm weighing up options. Sky have put me on one of those rolling contract offers which actually isn't terrible so I'm not rushing on the TV front, however I will be moving my broadband to a CityFibre provider asap. My question is, if I cancel my broadband with Sky, are they then in their right to remove my TV rolling offer and start charging me full price? Are Sky and Broadband contract offers tied to each other, if you see what I mean?
  • Ended up agreeing a new deal after being cut off for two days. I don't have the breakdown by price but all in for £43 a month and no admin fee. Given the best in here was £41, I'm fine with my deal.

Next time I won't call them as much or use the chat to fish for deals before getting cut off as the best I received was £51 with a £20 admin fee.

    Sky Signature
    Sky Sports
    HD
    UHD
    Netflix

Thanks for posting this. You mentioned you wouldn't fish for deals again next time. Did you call them to get your chosen deal or did you wait for them to call you after disconnecting?
