Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

I think things have changed recently - there was a time when you could get a good deal from negotiations ,when/ if you gave notice to cancel, even during the notice period .Brimble said:
As per my post a couple of pages ago, it does depend on each individual and what they want vs the effort they are prepared to make. If someone wants minimal effort / fuss, then calling and accepting a deal offered is at least much better than just paying the standard prices that many people still pay. The benefits of cancelling etc are of course better, but require more time, more calls, more negotiating etc, and not everyone can be bothered with that. If you're happy with what you've got vs the time you've spent on it, that's the main thing.chrisw said:
Maybe. I got them to remove UHD as I've been paying it for years and never used it but i still have Netflix basic. I hate doing this sort of thing but I'm happy with it anyway so I can stop worrying about it for the next 18 months.jojaca said:
Nearly £60 for that without UHD, Netflix and Cinema, think you have been mugged here.chrisw said:I've been on the text chat with them today and ended up with a deal which wasn't as good as above, but I'm happy with it. I couldn't be bothered cancelling, I just wanted it sorted. It's what I was paying several years ago.
Sky signature £22
Sky HD £5
Sky sports complete £19
Sky sports HD £2
Multiscreen £11.
It seems lately that you have to actually allow the cancellation to happen - and then sit on your hands waiting for the better offers to appear - if they do!
Sky are prepared to call your bluff more readily than in the past.0 -
I got a good deal AFTER I gave notice to cancel but BEFORE actual cancellation - anything other than Win Back is a frustrating waste of time!

I have Sky Q and then have added the sky Q mini boxes as multi room, when they are switched on they act as a boost. Works much better than the standalone boost plugs they sent me a few years ago plus I can watch sky in more rooms. I also think the boost guarantee is for a low per second speed, not the full speed.Marjrie said:I will be out of contract at the end of October, starting to look at what deals there might be. Do any of you have the broadband boost for £6 a month, is it worth it? Im trying to find ways of cutting costs but not quality1 -
My mate finally got his deal sorted after ridiculous amount of hassle. Signature £13.50 Sports £13 Ultimate £7 HD £7 Ultra HD £2 Sports Hd £2. £44.50. Split didn’t matter to him just total. Bit crazy £11 of that is on HD and Ultra HD but price as whole is good1

If you go down to the bottom of the cancel page to 'contact us' it has text, messenger, email and phone numbers. I copied and pasted the text number into my phone and texted them. Then you can just carry on with your day and exchange texts as you go.Marjrie said:

Hi - just checking if anyone thinks I should be holding out for a better deal or not if that’s ok?
Currently on Sky + for 104 pounds a month. Sky tv and sports. HD, kids and cinema. Plus super fast broadband. We liked the idea of Sky stream so as my contract was ending I called a couple of weeks ago to be offered stream and super fast with all that I currently have for 75 pounds a month. But that they couldn’t process it then as I was still 3 days over a month to go of the current contract so they said they would phone me to complete in 3 days time.
They never called so I phoned up to be told the best they could do was 120 for Sky +, w or stream. I said I’d cancel instead if they couldn’t listen back to the call and give me the original offer (or close to).Called back a few days later to see if any better offer might be available. Was offered 92 a month for stream (new customer offer) by someone in the retention team - they then transferred me to the stream team who said “no, 104 a month is the best deal”!!!Tried again today and they offered 95 for q or 98 for stream.
Feel really annoyed how they keep changing their offers depending on who I speak to.Sorry for the long post but is stream for 98 a month and the package I’ve described a good deal or a rubbish one?Cheers - Andrew0 -
That sounds like a rubbish offer. Sky seem to work out their offer prices on what customers are currently paying, and as you're also paying far too much for your Sky+ package, they are offering you rubbish. Superfast BB alone with Sky is showing as only £26 a month for new customers, I have the BT equivalent and pay them £24.99. As an example for Stream and what you want, I've found through Blue Light that I can get that for £55 a month with an 18 month contract, it's more for rolling 30 day. So the total works out at £81, and Sky can easily beat that for existing customers. It is perfectly normal for Sky to offer you a worse deal each time you call now, to try and panic customers to accept anything. If you've put cancellation notice in just sit tight for a while and wait for them to come to you. If they don't contact them again nearer cut off date. Only put cancellation in for your TV though, not BB.LondonFife said:Hi - just checking if anyone thinks I should be holding out for a better deal or not if that’s ok?

I did check and all at the current price I pay now with discounts added , furthest I could check was up to December, current contract ends late September , it's all same pricePeppa537 said:
I'd keep an eye on your future bills in your account. This sounds like the standard email Sky send to everyone towards the end of the contract, it only shows the so called savings, not the full price before the discounts or total amount you'll be paying. It is also worded in a way that makes it sound like you've got a good deal.deanos said:Received email from sky , they are keeping me on my discounted price for another year without contract extension
There's a thread on here about it https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6472463/sky-price-increase-letter-avoiding-giving-me-the-actual-new-price#latest
This is the wording
We understand that things are tough right now and we’ve noticed that you have some offers ending soon, so your price would normally go up. But the good news is, we’ve extended your offers for another 12 months and you don’t have to do a thing. So enjoy another great year with us while you continue to save. It's our way of saying thank you for being with Sky.1 -
Called to cancel today and they made no effort at all to keep me. So either I am terrible at negotiating (quite possible!) or they are giving out fewer good deals (particularly on stream). Hey ho, off to search for a replacement for the first time in 17 years!LondonFife said:Hi - just checking if anyone thinks I should be holding out for a better deal or not if that’s ok?
