  • Ended up agreeing a new deal after being cut off for two days. I don't have the breakdown by price but all in for £43 a month and no admin fee. Given the best in here was £41, I'm fine with my deal.

Next time I won't call them as much or use the chat to fish for deals before getting cut off as the best I received was £51 with a £20 admin fee.

Thanks for posting. I have the same package except I have no UHD, and I have Superfast Broadband as well.

Contract runs out mid October, best they could do via text chat today was £89.50 (£59 for TV and £30.50 for broadband) plus the £20 admin fee. Current contract is £68.50… told them to cancel, and apparently as I’m cancelling I won’t get updated discounts and offers! Will see what they can do after the contract expires but probably swapping over to Virgin.

Thanks for posting this. You mentioned you wouldn't fish for deals again next time. Did you call them to get your chosen deal or did you wait for them to call you after disconnecting?
During my cancellation period I received one or two calls but I also called them a few times on the back of emails or texts fishing for new deals.

To get this deal, I called them after receiving a text a a couple of days after my Sky had cut off (which had a new number that I hadn't called before) offering me the £51 initially and then £43 with a £10 admin fee. I asked if I can call back in a day or two when I've made up my mind, the said it was a final offer and we ended the call.

Same guy call backed a few mins later (I missed the call) and again about 10 mins later which I picked up.

He basically said, he spoke to his manager, they have noticed I contacted them a few times so are clearly interested in a deal and he could offer £43 with no admin fee, which I then accepted.

By me calling or using the chat, even just a few times had an impact on my negotiating position. I was in fact ready/prepared to leave but I would only call them myself after my Sky gets cut off next time to save the hassle.

Pretty good deal - I'm paying £43pm for Signature /Sports in HD but no UHD/Netflix - based on what I've heard/seen lately, the deals being offered are generally poor.
  • Does anyone here work at Sky and know their retentions strategy? It’s very different to a few years ago when discounts would be huge and you’d get a call within days of giving notice from the win back team.

Hi - When I took out my subscription in April 2022 on an 12 month contract (see package below), my bill was 42.50. On 27 April 2023 they increased the bill to 55.15 and currently the normal price without discount is £93. Unfortunately my Sky subscription expired 2-3 months ago but due unforseen circumstances, I was so busy that I missed the cancellation date and unable to cancel. So anyway, I spoke to Sky on 08/09/2023 and cancelled as the cheapest they offered was around £75. Currently they are offering me Sky Signature & Cinema for £26 (with a one off fee of £10 - dunno what this is!). I'm holding out to before the cancellation date which is towards the end of next week. The £26 offer is the only offer I have had so far!

    Cheers,
    Imran

My contract expiry is 8th October 2023. I have been getting the odd email once a week and one text so far. Just got another text through on my phone so I thought I'd contact them (no was 0333 759 4446 as per text). The best I got offered just now for the same package was £56.50 with a £20 admin fee. What do people think? Is it worth holding out for more?
  • I left months ago, never had any phone calls but had quite a few letters and emails offering the same thing. Mostly Stream for £20 and Q for £22.

Wouldn’t mind trying Stream but certainly not paying £5 for and skipping. Has anyone managed to get this added for the £20? I assume this doesn’t include box sets?

I'm on a very similar price deal for the same TV plus BB. I chatted and called and they called etc etc. I think that it's down to how long you wait and what they think you'll accept, plus (a bit) what they say they can offer. But still the best deals are when you've been cut off is what I think.
It's a total PITA. But it's only every 18 months...

My Sky Q contract came to an end in June. I had Sky Signature with HD/UHD for £12 per month and it was due to go up to £45 a month. Sky couldn't offer anything close to my previous deal so I cancelled. I tried Sky Stream on a one month trial but decided it wasn't for me. I contacted the win back team just as the Sky Q equipment was due to be returned and got:

    Sky Signature for £32 £14
    Sky Cinema for £19 £6
    Sky HD for £9 £5
    Ultra HD for £4 £2

    Total £64 £27

£10 admin fee offset by £10 credit.

From all the reports here, it seems Sky's new tactic is to play chicken with their customers until the last bitter moment when the equipment is due back!

Another friend cancelled last week, got offered sport’s signature and cinema for £43 by email.  No mention of multi screen or sports Hd or Hd or broadband.  If it includes both the Hd I think that’s reasonable but could be in the 30s..
