  • Originally I had been paying £17pm for Sky Entertainment + Box Sets + HD
In April it went up to £19.50pm, and it was showing it was going to go up to £39.50pm after the contract ended, far too high.
A couple of weeks ago I went to https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv and requested to leave sky.
A 'Virtual Assistant' asked some questions, and I answered indicating that for the right price I might stay.
After a couple of hours online wait, and a half hour online chat with a real person I was offered Sky Signature for £22pm + HD £1pm = £23pm
I said no thanks, start the 31 day countdown.
A couple of hours later I checked www.sky.com/mydeal, and it was offering Sky Signature for £17pm + HD £1pm
I kept checking www.sky.com/mydeal for a couple of weeks, but just the same offer.
I was phoned by Sky at one point, but they offered Signature + HD for £19/month, and I pointed out this was more than www.sky.com/mydeal
In the end I went for the £18pm for Signature + HD via www.sky.com/mydeal
I got an email acknowledgment that day, but with a warning 'There will be a significant wait time on responding.'
Finally got the package confirmed as agreed via email 5 days later.

The package: Sky Signature + HD Basics
The price and discount: £18, £5 In-Contract discount, £8 Sky Signature Discount, £5 off HD Basics
The length of the contract: 18 months
  • I cancelled our current deal last week as the renewal offer was poor.  £37p/m for Signature, HD, and Sport versus the £28 we'd been paying previously.  Also wanted an 18 month contract on everything where the Sport had been rolling previously.

After 5 days or so I've just been called by retentions and offered:
    Signature £17
    HD £2
    Sport £12
'Free' upgrade to a 2TB Sky Q Box (we have an 8-year-old 2TB HD box at present) that costs £25 to install (tried and failed to get them to credit it back).

In total £31p/m for Signature and Sport with an upgrade to UHD which seems fairly reasonable.

We were also offered multiroom for £10 (not that relevant to us at the moment as we only have one TV) but would enable Netflix UHD for a further £4.  I'm considering this purely because we currently pay £12 for this separately.  If I can get them to drop by a further £2 we may as well move the subscription and get a multiroom box for the future.

They weren't budging any further on price so I asked that they give me 24hrs to think about it and arranged they will call tomorrow.

Would be interested to get people's thoughts on this and especially these questions:

    1)  Is it correct that there is no longer a paywall for UHD? i.e. if you have a UHD capable box you get UHD channels?  I don't think this was the case when I last discussed this with Sky last November.

    2) has anyone managed to get the sport on a rolling or shorter term contract than 18 months?  Whilst I enjoy the occasional football match and the golf majors, I only really 'need' the F1 channel.  Not sure I want to be tied into the lot for 18 months when there's no guarantees there will be much sport taking place anyway.

My understanding is UHD is free if you have the 2tb box and multiroom. It's showing on my bill as free under those circumstances.

£12 for sport is a cracking deal , is that with the additional Sport HD? I couldn't get them lower than £20 for the complete sport pack in HD. I went a bit early and renegotiated 2 months before renewal.

It's only £2 lessbless but don't forget you can just buy F1 for £10. I'm not sure what contract length that comes with.

The salesperson seemed to suggest that I would get UHD sport simply by subscribing to sports package, however I will double check tomorrow before committing as they didn't seem to be that experienced (they had to check with a supervisor several times).  I gather from around that it's also advisable to insist on getting a 'v3' Q box as the older ones apparently don't support the HDR features which Sky has just started rolling out.

    I was paying £72.50 for:

    Sky Q
    Entertainment
    Sports HD
    Cinema
    Ultimate on Demand
    Multi-room

Gave my months notice and only a few days away from leaving. The Sky.com/mydeal has showed for the last two weeks:

    Signature £21
    Cinema £5
    Sports £12
    HD £1

I’ve had an ‘exclusive offer to return to sky’ text message but no one on chat picks up and when I’ve enquired they don’t know what they can offer me, other than the same I’m on now but for £64, which is what I was roughly on when I originally took the deal out before they increased the price.

Looks like I’ll be leaving without a renegotiation.

    Hi all
I've just got off the phone to sky with a new TV deal that I'm happy with. I was paying £91 as follows
Broadband + Anytime Talk £36 (contract ends May 2021) didn't need to change this
    Entertainment  £29
    Box sets £5
    Sky HD £6
    Sky go FREE
    See it first FREE
Sky sports £15 (3 year contract ends April 21) leaflet came through door with this offer
    Sky sports HD FREE
It had changed over the months due to covid and jan bill was £83.50 for tv broadband and talk but i had various price increases which took it up to £91 for July bill. Tv contract ended today and I've been trying for a while to get them on the phone to sort out a better deal. I now get the following:

Sky signature with box sets £12
    Hd £4
Sports £15 ( told him not to touch this as it was a very good 3 yr deal which he agreed with)
    Sports HD free
    See it first free
    Go extra free
Netflix £4 (was paying £5.99 to netflix)
plus he sending me a free Booster as my wifi is not as strong upstairs with free delivery. was £9.95

    all @ TV £35 + Broadband £36.50 = £71.50

he did say i had to pay £10 for the contract charge which i argued with but agreed to pay it which in fact is the cost to send the booster. not sure why we have to pay for the privilege of renewing. but i was speaking to a lovely guy in retentions who had got the deal right down from what they originally quoted me in the other department. all in all I'm happy with what i got. i actually quoted some of the deals on here and he did his best to match them. plus i also added the fact that Sky have put me down as a VIP Platinum which also gives you extra discount. so make sure you say this as well. i worked my female charm lol with lots of talk about football and had a lovely 1hour 36 minutes which sky was paying for lol. so don't give up there are so many deals out there and i'm glad i saw this site before speaking with them. roll on april and may when i do the same again.

Just signed up for another 18 months after the follow-up call we arranged yesterday.

As always, a few fun and games to be had at the start of the call.  The 'new' salesperson initially appeared to have no knowledge of yesterday's negotiations and even backpedalled slightly on yesterday's offer as they tried to charge £50 for a 2TB box install instead of £25 saying her colleague was mistaken.  She 'found' the notes on the system once I quoted figures and named the advisor I had spoken to.  Strangely though, she still wouldn't budge on the install fee but eventually agreed to credit £25 back after I suggested that would be appreciated.  I think they are genuinely restricted with what the system allows at times so worth asking for credits if they can't drop the actual fees entirely.  Then later in the call when she was putting the contract through the system the install fee suddenly showed as £25 anyway but she very kindly honoured the extra credit as a gesture of good will. Today it was also possible to get Netflix Premium for £6 without multiroom, unlike yesterday when it was only possible for £14 as a package.

All in all very pleased and satisfied with the deal, even though it always seems slightly mad having to go through the cancellation dance every 12/18 months.

    The deal:
    £17 - Sky Signature
    £2 - HD
    £12 - Sport
£2 - UHD (was told this was free yesterday, but seemingly not today, agreed to it due to improvements elsewhere)
£6 - Netflix Premium (we are paying £12 to Netflix directly so this is great)
TOTAL £39 a month (inc separate UHD Netflix we were paying £40p/m for same channels on Sky HD previously)

    One-Offs
    £0 - 2TB Sky Q Box Rental
    £25 - 2TB Sky Q Box Install
    £10 - admin
£35CR - Credit in respect of the above.

    Also an FYI: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/check-which-sky-q-box
Having read the above I made sure that the advisor made a note on the system that I had specifically requested an HDR-compatible box.  She admitted she had no idea what I was talking about, but given that Sky are charging existing Sky Q customers with older boxes £50 to upgrade I think it's important to check you are getting a new one and make a fuss in your cooling off period if you don't.  Logically they will have old stock that they will need to monetise somehow.

One further point to note to anyone considering starting an 18month contract now: your end date will be December 2021 so you will be in your cancellation period during Black Friday/Cyber Monday which is generally a good time to negotiate.

I phoned to remove some of my packages that I didn't really use anymore and because my contact was increasing because it was up. I got through to the first level of cancellations on the phone and he insisted he couldn't do anything to better the deal I was on. My package at the time was -

Entertainment £13 (about to increase to £25)
    Hd £1
    Boxsets £1
    Sports £15
    Cinema £5.50

At first I just wanted to remove sports and cinema and sort out the entertainment increase. But when he said he couldn't move on the price I told him to get rid of the whole TV package then and I'll leave sky. He then placed me through to retenions as he didn't have the authority to completely take off TV. After a few minutes talking with a lovely retenions man I got offered -

    Signature £12
    HD £2

I still removed sports and cinema because even though it was a very good price, I wasn't using them enough for it to be worth the money. I also had to recontract my fibre which I got for £25. I'm not over the moon with the price but it's ok for me.

I gave notice to cancel Sky last week, then on Saturday I went onto the MyDeals page and there was a deal I was happy with (£17pm Signature, £1pm HD). I accepted it, but the email I received just says that they are extemely busy and there will be a significant wait time on responding etc - it reads as though I've emailed them rather than just clicking to accept an offer.
Is this normal, and will I get a confirmation eventually? I was speaking to Sky on FB about another issue and they said they couldn't see anything about me accepting the deal on my account, but said that it can take a few days to show up; I just don't know if that was true or not.
