Sky TV retention deals ( post your haggling successes )

Just get the account holder to call them and then ask if you can talk to sky on their behalf and just cancel Sky TV and then let it get switched off and then call them up again to rejoin and you should get a good price.
If you have broadband with them don't cancel that as if that gets switched off it's not easy to rejoin.

Just called Sky to see what deal they would offer as I am moving house, been a customer for 8 years and they said no deals available for loyal customers only deals for new customers, just cancelled all services with zero fees, I guess loyalty means nothing these days. Now to find a new
broadband provider

Eight years as a customer and not even a loyalty offer… that’s a bit disappointing. I can’t really blame you for cancelling if there wasn’t anything available for existing customers. Hopefully you find a provider that gives you a decent deal for the move.

My contract was coming to an end with Sky for TV only.
Was paying £39 pm for Sky Signsture, Netflix with Ads, Kids and Cinema.
The automated “end of contract” said fear not, they had great deals which would be applied automatically so I could run on without a contract. The great deal was as above for £42pm. When I phoned to give notice to cancel, the best the agent could do was £45pm.
Yesterday was my final day with Sky. I’ve now bought a Freesat manhattan box and repurposed the Sky dish for that and will use whichever streaming service we fancy on a rolling monthly basis.
I’ve had absolutely no contact from Sky at all during my notice period other than a text two days ago saying it’s not too late to change my mind if I thought cancelling was a mistake. It seems the days of them actively pursuing leaving customers with good deals are gone.
After 8 years with Sky, I feel relieved to be out of the haggling cycle to be fair. The Freesat/streaming app thing will take a bit of getting used to but hopefully it’ll be worth it in the long run.

The cancellation has been put in the agent I was speaking to said that once the account cancels then we would have to wait 12-18 months to return as a customer I'm not sure if that was just a ploy to get us to sign a new contract unless something has changed in their policy? I was hoping to hold out for their win back team and obtain one of their deals as I know my parents won't want to change and switch to virgin.

A new one on me that is.
It's either 12 months or 18 months it can't be 13, 14 or whatever and I think it's ploy but others may know different.
I have been 26 years with Sky with mobile, TV and broadband at different times and I think I was without the TV part for 8 years and I don't get any better treatment than you do so no loyalty.

Not unless it's a vague 'you're contract is ending, why not take this expensive extension'.

I had a phone call following on from placing my cancellation the other day from their winback team however I hung up as I was suspicious about the call they didn't really sound professional at all.
So I contacted their live chat and they confirmed that it was a call from themselves so asked the agent what they could offer and apparently there was no offers available yet.
What I found interesting though was the agent told me to let the TV completely cancel and then wait for those offers to open up I'm sure the agents manager wouldn't have liked that but thought it was a nice touch anyway so that's what I'll do.
