Zarch said:Have just played the cancellation dance (again)........ 18 month contract was up..... customer of 20+ years, still with old HD box.
I'd seen slightly cheaper deals mentioned on here on the thread for those that had cancelled.
But in the end, i'm now paying a few quid less than last time for the same channels and i'm getting a box upgrade.
Maybe I could have saved a few more quid a month by going through with the cancellation..... but i'd already spent well over an hour on the chat......... didn't want to waste any more of my time.
Hope someone finds this useful.1 -
Had a letter from Sky offering TV, Sports and Cinema at £27 per month (didn't give an individual breakdown), HD at £1 per month, and Multiscreen at £9 per month for a total of £37, plus a £10 admin charge on an 18-month contract. Still not too chuffed with 18-month contracts and I've not really missed it since it went off due to using streaming services but there is some stuff I'd like to watch on Sky so I decided to go for it.
The link didn't work so I gave them a call. About 15 minutes waiting. Spoke to a really nice woman who confirmed everything but gave a price of £40 a month. I asked if she'd be willing to knock the admin fee off since the price she was giving me is higher than I'd been offered, and she agreed immediately. I know that the extra £3 a month over 18 months is obviously more than £10, but given she made the gesture without quibble, I decided to take it back.
She did confirm that Sky doesn't ordinarily offer Multiscreen on HD boxes anymore, but as I have no interest in upgrading to Q and I have previously had Multiscreen, they're OK with re-enabling it for me.
Sky was re-enabled on both boxes within the hour. There was about a 20-minute delay between one box and the other. She would always like to say,

To update, now my future bill is available, I can see the breakdown of fees:Sky Signature - £10 (£15 discount + £5 in-contract discount)Sky Cinema - £11 (no discount applied)Sky Sports - £2 (£19 discount + £7 in-contract discount)Sky Sports HD - £2 (£4 discount)Sky HD - £1 (£5 discount)Sky Multiscreen - £14 (no discount applied)
I think the advisor did a bit of juggling to try and get my deal as close to the £37 as I was offered by letter. As I understand it, Sky Sports is in HD as standard now so I imagine the HD fee was included in the original £27 base price offer (before the £1 HD + £9 multiscreen extra). However, 10+11+2+2 = £25, not £27.My guess is that £9 Multiscreen for Sky+HD wasn't available (they don't really want to do it, after all, so they can push Q) so had to be £14. I'm guessing the advisor played around with other offers on my account to get the price down to £40 rather than £42 and was then happy to lop the admin fee off to close. She would always like to say,

It was a typical winback letter, though. Came in an envelope with a window displaying the £27 offer. Some blurb about "Have you missed us as much as we've missed you?" and an offer for Sky TV + Cinema + Sports for £27.
On the back it had the additional offers, HD for £1, Multiscreen for £9, there was an offer for Kids (can't remember how much) and some Sky Q specific offers like Ultimate TV and Ultra HD - again, can't remember how much, I'm afraid. Don't recall it mentioning any discounts available on a Sky Q upgrade but I'm not interested in Sky Q anyway, so might not have noticed them. She would always like to say,

I got them down to £33 for Signature, Sports and HD on an 18 month contract today. Still not good enough given the lack of content forthcoming in the next year or so.0

I have been with Sky TV since January 2018 and have Sky Entertainment. Paying £17 p/m.
My contract will end next month.
I realise they do the cheapest Sky TV (Sky Ultimate TV).
What's the best deal I could get through retention? What is the number I did to call?
I can't go over £17, the minimum the better.
Thanks

Thanks mits999,
I called today, my contract will expire in few months time.
My confusion is, when I go to 'Sky TV' only Sky Ultimate TV shows up (includes Netflix). It doesn't mention Sky Signature. The guy said this is the cheapest TV deal. Does this include Netflix or not?
Why don't Sky advertise all their packages with their prices?
Sorry, If I have misunderstood.

Hello,
I have been a sky customer for 14 years and my contract is due for renewal next month. Armed with all the information on this thread i believe I'm in a good position to haggle for a great deal. However, I would like to know at which pioint of the cancelation dance would i lose my 14 year loyalty.
It sounds like the best deals come from when you ask to cancel and the winback team offers you a deal to come back. If this is within the 31 day cancellation period, do I still keep my loyalty period or would it reset?
