Morning everyone! Back to work today and the pooches are already doing my head in... It's going to be a long old day I think!
Nothing else to report on the saving front, recent events have had me focus on my debts to be honest. Hope everyone's doing ok!

Hello again.
So I have spent most of last night (the joys of being a night owl) and today trying to figure it out and I think I have a solution... but it involves slightly lying on my charts.
Basically, I should be getting a slightly higher wage at the end of January due to unsociable hours so I am hoping to pay two overpayments in February.
One as soon as I get paid and then one later in the month.
My plan is to write the one from as soon as I get paid into January's box and then the second one under February.
What do people think?? It means that I don't have to touch my emergency fund at all. So, I think it is a win-win situation.
The thought of taking money out of the emergency pot annoys me a lot but so does making a mess of my table (did I mention the slight OCD and neatness requirement). I think this is the best option.
:undecided

Morning People...
Yesterday was better than I thought it would be....so I was pleased.....This morning I'm feeling a bit rubbish....but it's mostly emotional rather than physical....We shall see what an hour at the Gym does as usually it helps to go there and work off frustrations....
stewby hun ..... I think if you're happy with that then go for it....Btw, I'm a bit OCD with my Charts and things too0 -
Another update from me, small update..
#5: £554.47/£3000... a whole 43p more! haha
Slowly but surely? :rotfl:
I have been walking to work rather than taking my car or getting the bus since i started back this week. It would normally cost me £6.14 a day to park or £3.50 for a return on the bus.
So, I'm hoping by the end of the month to have some travel money left in my budget to put towards my EF as well as spare from my wage.

I've just checked my online banking and Lloyds have started something called "Save the Pennies", where every time you use your debit card, they will round up the payment to the nearest pound and transfer that money to a Lloyds savings account. My EF account is elsewhere, but I wondered whether it was a quick and easy way of doing what some of the peeps on this thread have been doing with their spends, if I started a savings account for that? I've just earned £80 today on Ebay (after all the fees) from selling a few old video games that I didn't even know we had. That's going into my newly-established decorating fund, so maybe I could use the Save the Pennies account for that as well?

Hi Duran,
I noticed the other day that my TSB account has the ability to do the same with the Save the Pennies thing. I think its a really good idea if it will work for you
I do this manually every sunday from my accounts and it really is amazing how much tots up!
I use my TSB account as a savings account and syncing fund so there is no point in me doing it for that account.

'Save the Change' has been available for quite a while now.
It's really good to round down the account, works fab if you have OCD about having exact £s in your current account. The good thing is, they won't do it if you are in your overdraft or if it will cause you to go overdrawn. Really handy
DuranGirl, I think the pennies will soon add up whichever fund you put them towards..........they do say 'Mind the pennies and the £s will mind them self'I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
