Well finally I have something to Report.....I have put a Fiver in my Emergency Fund!! First thing to go in my New Terramundi....but it's safely in there now and can't be removed without smashing it....which I don't plan to do.....so I'm really pleased with that...
Well Done DreamerHelen, as you have just said to me every little really does help :T £5 closer to your final goal!
One thing i find really motivating is working out the percentage of my goal... even me adding 43p to my total today meant i went from 18.46% to 18.48% of my total.. not a lot but even i was surprised at the jump! :j just IMAGINE if i added £1 instead:eek::rotfl:Mortgage Feb 2023- £249,210 MFW 2023 #20: £524.05/£500 (104.81%)0 -
Just checking-in after a mad few days family-wise.
I have 'aquired' (well, purchased and consumed the contents of) a 5L mini-keg of 'Old Speckled Hen' and am now in a quandry. Do I adapt it to use as terramundi, or do I convert it into a small water carrier for when I go out and about.
Stewby. Regarding your mortgage dilemour. Does your mortgage allow over-payments (I know some have limits like 10% of the remaining balance per annum)?.Never Knowingly Understood.

Small water carriers for when you're out and about ALWAYS come in handy! :rotfl:
This actually made me laugh out loud, others will think I'm a little mad!

Hi Patman.
My mortgage does allow overpayments as I have asked before. Haven't found out if there is a maximum yet but don't think there will be as I am not on a fixed rate at the moment.
Discussed it with my Dad (who is my financial advisor pretty much) and he said the rates don't appear to be moving for the next wee while and I have an amazing rate (1.45%) so should stick with it as long as possible.
There is a possibility that my mortgage might be going up in the near future (we are house-hunting, we just need something in our price range. Houses here are OTT expensive due to the oil industry).
It's also really difficult as a lot of other house-hunters are cash buyers which is apparently more appealing.
I have never really fallen in love with our current house. It sounds weird but it just hasn't felt like a home to me. Not going into too much detail but we had some issues buying it and I felt a bit of resentment towards the house due to that.
I am very very keen to move on and live in a house that feels like it is mine. That probably sounds really daft.
:embarasse
Sorry, I have rabbited on about my mortgage a lot and this isn't even the mortgage thread.
Hugs to everyone.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

This does not sound daft at all to me, there's a huge difference between a house and a 'home' and you need to feel settled and happy if it's to be a true home.
Hope you get sorted, pants that the prices are pushed up due to the oil industry

I have been walking to work rather than taking my car or getting the bus since i started back this week. It would normally cost me £6.14 a day to park or £3.50 for a return on the bus.
So, I'm hoping by the end of the month to have some travel money left in my budget to put towards my EF as well as spare from my wage.
Sophie
That's a good amount saved on your travel, Sophie, plus you've the added bonus of free exercise;). Win-win:T0 -
