    Morning All..... :)

Well it's a new Week, new Dreams, new Possibilities....I like that thought....Monday's seem to be quite significant to me, it's like when it turns past Midnight I just think "Well it's a new Week now, a chance to make things better"... :D

So with that thought.....Try to think of ONE thing that you can achieve this Week....it can be as big or as small as you like....whatever is important to YOU....and at the end of the Week (Sunday)....we can declare that we well and truly achieved it!! :)

So mine this Week is to try and focus on myself rather than on what other people think of me....I spend an awful lot of time on what other people think and I would like to be a little bit selfish this Week and focus on me and my goals and my dreams and what I need to achieve.... :)

I should also be able to add another Fiver to my Emergency Fund Terramundi on Thursday when I get paid...so I'm looking forward to being able to do that... :D

skye blue - Don't worry about the confusion hun...I have Updated the First Page....You're doing brilliantly...keep it going!! And GREAT positive thoughts for the Weekend....keep those going too.... :)

LittleMissDetermined - Well Done on clearing stuff....keep that going too ;)

[Deleted User] - I'm sorry to hear that things have changed which are making things tighter...but you are still managing to Save which is AWESOME!! :) I've Updated the First Page....Just do what you can, when you can .. :)

Dobbibill - You are always there with an encouraging word....thank you hun.....Hope you are well and ticking along nicely... :)

Hey there everyone - it looks like you're all doing great things, even when circumstances have got tighter. Nothing to add to my EF yet, but I did sign up for the Lloyds Bank Save the Change scheme. They were super helpful on their phone lines, as the website wasn't showing it at the time, and they sorted it all out for me. I think that will be my decorating fund, as I've had a fair amount of success on Ebay so far. Small amounts, but they're adding up. I'll transfer the money from PayPal as it comes in, so it should work out quite well.

Spent Saturday with m'chap on our first day of decluttering his flat. Two car boots and two back seats full for the recycling centre, plus two full charity bags came home with me (no chazzas near him) and a bunch of stuff for Ebay. I need to move it fast, otherwise it'll just become MY clutter! I also used up about 10 tins and packets from his wartime food store to make lunch and dinner, as well as ditching a few tins of fruit that had blown. I've told him that he is not bringing his tins with him when he moves in with me, so hopefully that will concentrate his mind!

  • Hello everyone! Sorry for my long absence. I so wanted to add some money to the EF but the delay with the card thingy from NW made it impossible. I'm so glad to report it has finally arrived and it has cured my shakes ( saving up for the 3-6 Month EF should come with a warning : HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!!!) I think it's my first EF top up for 2016 (not sure). I added £120 to take the total up to £1858.08. That's 15.5% of my target. It's been a slow start but as we have said in the past it's not a race. It's not the destination but the journey that matters. Somebody did say the scenic route is rather good. So for those who are feeling like it's a constant uphill struggle, chin up. At least it's a journey going up rather than down.

Nothing to Report money-wise from me...Not until Thursday...

DuranGirl - Sounds like you have great plans and I think that's great hun xXx :)

The Only Girl - Thank you for your encouraging words....you're right in what you say!! I've Updated the First Page for you....You are doing absolutely AWESOME!! xXx :)
  • Some brilliant results recently. Congratulations:T

I've come on here today to withdraw myself from the challenge, it's just impossible to save anything at the moment with my mega-debts being a priority:o. They will be until the autumn of 2019 when my DMP ends:o. I'm already on patman's £1000 EF Challenge and whatever I can save is going into that to cover emergencies (which I've had plenty of in the past year:eek:). It's in an easy-access account and perfect for when I need money fast.

I'd planned this 3-6 month EF as an untouchable 'new' car fund but having 2 EFs on the go at once only means the small amounts I can scrape together are just spread out more thinly. The £1000 EF needs to take priority as it has to be dipped into regularly and never seems to get above half full.

I'm so sorry, Helen:A, as this thread is such a joy to visit but seeing everyone else saving money is making me a bit depressed:o. I know you'd be the first to say it's not a race and it doesn't matter how long it takes or how little we save so I'm very disappointed with myself for letting you down.

I'll still pop in from time to time to see how you are all doing but I'll no longer be part of the challenge.

Wishing all you lovely, warm-hearted and friendly people the very best of luck:kisses3::beer:

Aw, carbootcrazy. So sorry to hear you are withdrawing... Instead of withdrawing, why don't you do the challenge in stages like I am?? Your first stage could be Patman's £1000 challenge then once you have achieved it, you carry on.
However, you mark it as the same challenge so grand total would be £3000 for example but current target is £1000??
    :undecided

I prefer it this way as my savings each month will be quite small and it was a bit depressing looking at £6000 as the goal. It didn't really seem achievable.
Cutting it into chunks is much better.

We will support you whatever you decide to do.
    Hugs.

    Good afternoon.

So... I went to the shop today and took out my money. £50 is going to head towards the emergency fund. So that brings my total to...

    #8 = £180.76
    :j

Slowly but surely and we will all get there.
    Hugs.

Don't leave us carboot! :(Stewby's idea is brilliant and you've contributed so much to the thread. I'm sure everyone here will have ups and downs, some "downer" than others, but it would be a shame to lose you, if Helen doesn't mind (I'm sure she won't because she's lovely :))

Had a bit of a stressful day, some annoying and some good news. Had a meeting with the big boss today and they've offered me an acceptable change to my role when I return from secondment, so I won't be made redundant in this round :j. The annoying stuff was when my solicitor contacted me to ask about closing my file for the financial settlement. I mentioned that the k*!b of an ex hadn't carried out the transfer of his share of the endowment to me. She chased it and it turns out that he's refusing to request the form because it benefits me so I've had to do that today - more delays.
Nothing like someone who was super-controlling but lost the battle, trying to be difficult right up to the end  Deep breaths....

    Morning People.... :)

Well I'm feeling MUCH more positive today....I won't have anything to report re the EF until tomorrow...but then I can put a Fiver away... :D

carbootcrazy hun ..... Please stay with us....You are more than welcome to use Patman's Challenge as the first step, you can put that as part of your Target on here, no problems whatsoever....And then when you've got your £1000 you can just carry on if you wish or you can decide you've got enough at that point. It's certainly not up to me to say HOW much people should be saving as their final Goal.....I would miss you greatly if you decided to leave.... xXx

stewby - Thanks for your lovely encouraging words to carbootcrazy .... I'll go and Update the First Page in a second...You're doing really well hun xXx

DuranGirl - Of course I don't mind and would LOVE carbootcrazy to stay....And I'm sorry to hear that you had a really stressful day hun xXx
