3-6 Month Emergency Fund Challenge!!
Comments
-
Ok, I need an emergency fund. I have no disposable cash atm so it will have to be from eb@y sales etc initially, but aiming for £4200 in the long run which is the equivalent to 3 months expenditure and minimum debt repayments. To be honest I think I will have more likely paid off debts before I get to this figure but it's good to have a a goal.Happiness is wanting what you have...0

Hi Helen, hope you're feeling better soon
I've been overthinking this morning and decided to use some of my fund to clear one of my credit cards. I'd been feeling insecure at work as the company regularly undertakes restructuring but I survived the last one (knock on wood).
Can you please reduce my pot total back to £2000 please Helen? The likelihood is that I'll have to use some for holiday spends at the end of the month too but we will have to see.

Morning hope everyone is ok and that you get better soon Helen
Please could you add £28 to my total please. So total now stands at £343 of the new target.
Thanks0 -
:wave:Hello everyone and a big welcome to anyone new. I haven't posted any additions to my 'pot' for a while (too long I'm afraid:o) but I love to read how everyone else is doing and am cheering you all on in spirit:beer:
Helen, I'm so glad that you had such a wonderful time in Paris:j. Exactly the tonic you needed after such a horrible year. Sorry you've gone down with a cold but here's a nice hot drink:coffee: to make you feel better:).
I'm part of a challenge on MSE to try to make £10 a day each month. It doesn't actually mean every single day;), but it evens out over the month. I usually just about make it:j through all sorts of little ways (selling stuff, surveys, money-off vouchers and coupons, all sorts of stuff really). Unfortunately, I have a lot of financial problems so the money is pretty much spoken for before I can even hope to save it:o. Things seem to have eased just a bit recently though and I'm determined to put as much of this 'extra' money as I can into my EF each month. Famous last words, eh? I know I've tried it before and failed dismally. I will try though:)
Anyway, to finally cut this ramble short:o I've swept £250 across into my EF account this morning:dance::dance::dance:. It takes my total (if my maths and signature are right;)) up to £870.
Onward and upward now, eh?;)0 -
Hi everyone,
I hope the New year has been kind to you all. Helen, I'm pleased you had a lovely time in Paris after the end to last year. exactly what you needed & deserved.
I had a surprising end to the year and start to 2017. I was given a pay rise and also a late Christmas bonus in my pay for January. The company i work for, after a few years of scraping by is finally pulling around so we are starting to reap the rewards from that. So i have decided to split the extra wage, as well as the Christmas bonus between my car fund and holiday fund until March when our pensions finally kick in.
I haven't had a pension the whole time I've worked there so now that things are on the up the MD has offered to match whatever we pay in up to 5%, so my thoughts are that ill go the whole hog, i can't miss money I'm not used to having and may as well get as much out of it as possible to make up for lost time.
So, this month and next month my car fund might jump quite dramatically however, after that it will be steadily added to again.

We are excited, but we'll be nervous until exchange as anything can go wrong until then. The waiting will be the hardest.
So I have decided in the meantime to set a new goal of £4000 and try to save as much as possible ready to pay mum off. She's happy with £100 a month, but that would take over 3 years. If I can give her a big chunk at the beginning it will help. And it will give me something to focus on and take my mind off the waiting.
We get £500 cash back from the mortgage company, and I will get the deposit back from the flat so should be able to hand £1000 back straight away.
So please set my goal to £4000, I currently have £100 put aside.

Hi All,
Sounds like Paris was just what was needed Helen, really glad you enjoyed it.
Just a small update from me today.........interest rates have dropped so I'm not getting my usual little sum but this will have to do for the moment until it's shuffled round or rates improve.
#2 £17.87 added so the new total is £8226.69 aka 94.56%
It will do for now.
In other news I'm off to Italy on the weekend for the 6 Nations Rugby.....so excited!!!
Keep on keeping on.
