£2000 removed from my EF today, but for very exciting reasons...

We are buying a house!! We have found our dream home, and our offer has been accepted.
I have moved £2000 from my ISA to my account ready for fees that will need paying soon, and the
remaining £5320 will be used for my half of the deposit so my EF will be depleted.

This is what my EF was being saved for, so I'm not sad at all to be dipping into it. :D

I will be back however, ready to start saving again. Our next plans will be children, so we will need savings for prams, cots & all the other expenses involved. I would also like a little pot for my reduced wages on mat pay.

But that is all for the future. Right now the house is the focus :D

Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Hello! I am not doing too great with my EF. I developed an addiction to buying nail polish. I'm slowly cutting down but i already spent over £1000 on my CC. I know it's so so bad.

£1000 on nail polish!?!? There is a thread here somewhere where they pledge to use up and not buy. Make-up, products etc etc.
    Might be worth a look?
    I'll keep hunting the link!

    Hello,

Pay day is finally here and after being paid back the money and adding yesterday I am back again with my regular £350 offering. I'm away a lot in Feb so I may have to dip back into it...

For now though, my new total is £2858.66 and I'm feeling quite proud :)

    Good Morning Everyone... :)

I'm so sorry I haven't been around.....Paris was just magical, I spent it all at Disneyland Paris and I think I have found my new "Happy Place" and have booked to go back just for one night in March....but it was just amazing and I realised that apart from a day and a half in Paris in 2011 where I got food poisoning and a trip to Australia in 2009 where I truly got my heart broken...I haven't really had a proper Holiday since about 2004....so this has just inspired me to create a better life for myself....

However....When I got back home I came back down to earth with a huge bump....My Family are not doing great following the deaths that we experienced last Year...and I have spent a great deal of time worrying about them....before realising that I can try and help them but that I can't "fix them" and that I just have to allow them to go through whatever they are going through....I hope that makes sense to you all...

But it took me until the end of last Week to realise that and the rest of the Week was just spent with me being in tears and trying to fix everyone....

Then the Weekend was spent with me trying to Work and do my Tax Return....I had done my Tax Return Documents last Year in July however my Memory Stick crashed and now I'm having to do it all over again....I'm determined to finish it today as the cut-off is tomorrow to get it done...

So all in all a mixed bag....Wonderful memories of Paris and things to look forward to in March and the rest of the Year...but sad moments with my Family....

I hope you're not all too mad that I deserted you for a Week....and thank you for being so lovely to keep this Thread going in my absence... xXx :)

Yes, please pop it back to zero. What ever doesn't get spent in fees will go to repaying my mum back for the money I have had to borrow to meet the sellers price.
Then I shall start saving again.

I'm sorry about your family, unfortunately people need to work through grief in their own way, we can help as much as we can, but you can't take the hurt away.

    Hi Helen and everyone

Glad you enjoyed the Paris trip

Please don't forget to look after your own emotional well being too. Sometimes we have to take a little step back or we end up lower than the people we are trying to help

Could you add £150 to my pot, thats £75 from my wage and the £75 from the free rates month may as well take it out straight away - not used to it so shouldn't miss it

    Enjoy your week everyone

Hello all, sorry I've disappeared for a few months but I am back and I'm hoping to stay in the loop. Update on my emergency pot, it's now at £7556.81. I am hoping to reach my target of £12,000 or ideally £15,000 by the end of the year.
