Bob - £3 for an ice cream in London sounds cheap to me. You would expect it to be cheaper up north but round these parts ice cream is very expensive for some reason, even in non tourist type places. I suppose I have got used to the prices.
It is very foggy here today and quite chilly. DS was saying how cold his hands were on the way to school this morning. I have put my lovely gilet on and am quite toasty without the heating on.
Will be cracking on with work soon - just need another coffee first:D. The dog needs walking and I need to run a duster around downstairs. The washing machine is chugging away but it won't be line dried unless the sun comes out.
Still didn't get the gate paint or coal this weekend, didn't put the lights on my bike either. Need to motivate myself today.
DS did get a hair cut this weekend, I did it last time but he is wanting a cut which is beyond my basic capabilities so £8 spent there.
Tea tonight is YS beef burgers, chips and salad.

498louise - yes some people have gone a bit too far off grid. I want to get away from dangerous people not find more of them. I watched the Hairy Bikers in Finland on TV and that looked just about right for me, I love cold weather too. How lovely your MIL sounds. Wish mine was.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Ohh I'll have to see if I can find that show, Finland and the Scandinavian countries have always appealed to me - I also love cold weather. Yes my MIL is lovely, I am very lucky.

I've been to the gym this morning 8/12 and it will be a NSD 14/20. Just been over to sign up for October's challenge. Hope everyone's having a good day.
Re island living - my parents moved to an island when I was in my mid teens and still live there. I did love living there for a few years but left at 17 and have no desire to move back. While it is great to go back for a visit, I'm not sure I could cope with the lack of facilities (no Aldee) and the weather dependent ferries, esp during winter.

Apple - Did the icreceam van have Captain Scarlett painted on the front?
Dolly - £3 is a lot for an ice cream here. I think because there is a lot of competition it is cheaper. I hate buying from icecream vans full stop as it is such an expensive purchase for something you can get litres for in the supermarket.
In our local park they charge £2.50 for a double cone with flake & sauce, & that is expensive to me too. Sometimes treat son on the way home if I have tips to spare.
498Louise - Off grid living is a cool idea, but I think many of us would struggle in practise. I love reading The FrugalWoods blog & their dreams becoming reality of home steading as they call it. But they've spent time learning the skills to survive in that environment, which is more than can be said for the likes of me
Welshkitty - Really hope you get the tenant thing sorted soonCongrats on that new booking, you are doing so well!
MissTara - I can imagine how seeing your parents do the island living thing must have been interesting at the time, but not so much fun for a teen?
Calling - At least you spent on something practical, & not just something that would be expensive & then never last or whatever. Enjoy it, we should enjoy the purchases we make. Thats half of life isnt it. Why we work, so we can feel we've made good choices on how we do spend our hard earned money.
Have a good rest of the day everyone!

Hi everyone!
Calling there's room on my naughty step if you want to join me? However, I'm sure you thought it through and decided it was a neccessary spend before committing, and it looks like we are both forgiven!
Thanks bob got some more viewings tomorrow so fingers crossed.
On the ice cream topic, I very rarely buy from a van/kiosk as I just can't justify the spend. If I want to treat the little ones I try to find somewhere that sells multi packs as they are usually cheaper than 1 from the van!
Today has been very productive! Had a delivery of an item I have been waiting for and have finally been able to make up some gift packs to sell in time for Christmas. I have 16 of one particular set and have had an order for 20 of them already! So have had to place another order for more bits. Have also started prepping lots of other bits for the Christmas fayre I will be attending.
Had a bit of an accident this evening - have learnt my lesson to concentrate on one thing at a time in the kitchen - I pulled a plug out with wet hands without turning the socket off and gave myself one heck of an electric shock. I'm absolutely fine but was a bit shaken up after doing it!
Spending the rest of the evening on the sofa as it is back to uni for me tomorrow and I have a feeling that I won't have much time for chilling on the sofa over the next 2 years!0 -
Just a quick check in from me to declare that I have reached my 15 NSD's and I will probably bag another one tomorrow as well. Life has really been getting in the way of things at the moment so I haven't checked in as regularly as I would like. I am another month closer to my Christmas DFD though, which is really exciting for me.
I will head over to check out the October thread and sign myself up for further motivation - thanks Dolly.
Hope everyone is going ok, recovering from the lurgy, squishing onto the naughty step etc.Not giving up
