    Hello all.

Back on to nightshift. Swapped my shifts around to accomodate a colleague and it has messed my system up a bit. On Tuesday, off Wednesday, on Thursday, off Friday, on Saturday and Sunday.
As a result, I have ended up with a rip-roaring cold so feeling a bit sorry for myself.
    :(

Started writing this on Sunday night and the rip-roaring cold has actually turned out to be a virus. Now having fevers, sweats, coughing fits, sneezing fits and vomiting. Also aching all over. On the plus side, no appetite and not being able to keep anything down means that my diet has started early and we are saving a fortune in food (well, we have a freezer of food that hasn't been used up). It's one of those if you don't laugh, you'd cry things.

This desert island community is sounding awesome by the way... do you need a nurse by any chance??
    :)

The only thing that is absolutely gutting is that I was given the opportunity to be the lead for something at my work and I was really excited and wanted to prove myself.
However, the course is tomorrow and I am struggling to leave the top floor of the house (toilet and bed are up here).
So I have had to ask a work colleague to step in as I am just not able. Am so disappointed as I had really been studying hard for the course.

Not sure how many spend-free days we had. Definitely made it to 15 as we have been sticking to shopping just one day a week... although I know we were naughty a couple of times. (had a chinese on Friday night as I wasn't feeling up to cooking).
    :o

I agree with everyone else in that the car and fridge are necessary spends. No naughty step for either of you in my opinion. Besides I don't think anyone should share it with me just now, I might sneeze on you.
    _pale_

Hugs to everyone and if I don't chat tomorrow, will see you in October.

Hi Stewby, don't worry about the position, hopefully there will be other opportunities :) Please keep yourself as stress free as possible to aid your recovery. Take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon :)

OH and I are going to Las Vegas for part of our honeymoon and are restricting ourselves to £200 each for the four nights gambling. Works out at £50 a night although I won't spend that, OH does enjoy a wee bit of a gamble sometimes and it is our honeymoon after all.

I just keep the game going in the background though to build up points.Where else are you going? If I can swing it we'll do Anaheim fora few nights. We did LA last time and no real urge to go back really. Where are you staying in Vegas? We're staying at the Signature, but we book through owners direct and it's a lot cheaper:) Right, i'll be quiet now! Taking the thread topic :o

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

The cafe did pick up a little bit, closed on £100, not an epic fail after all.

My son stayed home yesterday as he was feeling ill, but seemed fine just a cold. So we sent him in today. Went to pick him up to be told he has been really floppy all afternoon, the TA said he was lying on the floor at lunchtime in the playground. He was cold & shivery. Managed to get us both as far as the park, which is about a 20 minute bike push, & he was sick everywhere. I was wondering how I'd get us all the way home, especially as a cab would be unlikely to want a vomiting child in it, but he seemed to have an odd spurt of energy, wouldnt stop talking for ages, & we managed to walk/push/cycle the last bit. Have put him on the sofa & hes now asleep. Will wait till his Dad gets home for help moving him. So he will be at home tommorow again obviously. I thank god OH can remote work very easily.

Stewby - I dont think I knew you were a nurse. Sorry you have been illl, sounds really awful.

Traveller - Thank you, good luck to your son with his business. I honestly think that self employment can bring a lot of happiness. But sometimes I wish I'd done it before kids/mortgage/etc, because it is just so unpredictable. You have moved mountains yourself, I really hope you feel proud of your achievement today? What a great example you've set your children, & anyone else who is struggling with debt to be honest!

Calling - Cheers, no naughty steps for you. And anyway, didnt you say you were hoping to do alternate months on the one big debt free push, one a bit more laid back?

Apple - Any updates on the bullying? Hope DD is ok.

    Bob

  • Evening all. Welshkitty, hope you're feeling better after your shock. Bob, glad today picked up a bit and hope your son feels better soon. Traveller, you're an inspiration, well done you :)
Today was quiet so a NSD. Hoping for another one tomorrow to take me to 22. Managed to get up the last two mornings to exercise as well, in spite of the temperature dropping fast - it's so cold, but moving warms me up by the end of it. Got paid today, so paid myself first (into savings accounts etc) and then all bills go out tomorrow, so I get to see what I've got for October. Going to be a difficult month for me, but I'll do what I can, as usual :)
    Onwards turtles!

To be honest traveller... I don't know proper gambling at all. When I was younger we used to play on the two pence pusher machines and I used to always have fun playing on a one armed bandit that started off at a penny a go (eventually went up to 5p). So my plan is to stick to that sort of game.
OH likes all sorts of gambling (cards, roulette, etc) so he will be doing a bit of everything I think.
    :)

Our hotel is going to be the Bellagio. OH loves the "Oceans" films and I love the water fountains so we are springing for a hotel suite overlooking the fountains. It is expensive but not as bad as I was expecting to be honest, especially for a hotel as famous as it is.
    :o

The aim is to make our honeymoon as special as possible because (hopefully) we will only ever have one.
So the plan is to stay in four places... Las Vegas, New York, Washington DC and ????
Part of me wanted Los Angeles but you need to have a car to get around. It's apparently not really safe to walk around. Another part of me wanted Florida to go the parks but then we might leave that for another trip and tour round Florida a bit as there is a lot more to Florida than just disneyworld. Another thought was Chicago but it is really expensive to stay there so has put me off.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Sounds terrible but I am more excited about the honeymoon than the actual wedding.
    :D

Bob... I wonder if your son maybe has picked up the same virus. My nephew is getting the blame (perhaps brought it home from nursery) but a heap of my brother's colleagues are off with it. Apparently it is tearing through our town. I hope it isn't the same thing but it sounds similar.
    :(

Away to go and read October's thread as I am feeling a bit more alive after my afternoon nap. Just stuck a very lacklustre yes please on the thread and didn't even read it. Assume it is of the usual awesome standard.
