Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning All

Well we made it through the night with no dramas on the illness front. Have tucked son up on sofa now, still grimly clutching his red bucket. He's really worried about being sick again for some reason. But he has a day of TV and snoozing ahead of him so nothing challenging.
WelshKitty - sorry to hear your son was also unwell. Glad it didn't last long. Brilliant about the new order. Soon you'll have to take on an employee! Great about your new tenant too. A pretty good end to September?

Apple - Glad to hear DDs situation is improving. Thank you for a brilliant challenge this month. I really hope October will be a better month for you, getting your house back to just your immediate family etc.

Stewby - it's lovely reading all about your honeymoon travel plans. We went to Belize for ours back in 2006. We both love diving and wanted to do the great blue hole out there which really was stunning. I'd also done a course at uni that had quite a lot about the temples so all in all it ticked our boxes. You couldn't fly direct from the UK at the time so we flew into NYC & then transferred to Miami to get there but we didn't get to see either of the US cities at that time.
I also got sent to Las Vegas for a week on a work trip in 2005 which was an amazing perk. Stayed at The Luxor. Wouldn't recommend or not recommend it really. Huge place. Don't miss hoover dam or lake mead though both stunning.

Right off to work! Then last midwife check straight afterwards.

Away to go and read October's thread as I am feeling a bit more alive after my afternoon nap. Just stuck a very lacklustre yes please on the thread and didn't even read it. Assume it is of the usual awesome standard.
    ;)

Oh crikey - hope you still think that when you've read it.

    Get well soon.

traveller - you have done an amazing job in the last couple of years.

Welshkitty - good news about your orders, are you going to be able to keep up with the demands?

Well I have got an interview for the job but the interview is 17 miles away, I am going to ring them and make sure that the work would be near home and not all the way over there. It's a bizarre place to do an interview as it is a fairly remote moorland village. Stewby - it won't make much difference financially but it is working with children and would be a great addition to my c.v when applying for other jobs.

Bob - glad your son is on the mend.

I watched Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners last night and as usual I now have an overwhelming desire to clean my house, particularly the fridge today.

I am going to walk the dog to my mum and dad's this morning, I need to be back for lunch time as my Avon order is being delivered around then. This afternoon will be cleaning and working and school run, will bag up the Avon orders whilst the tea is in the oven then out to Lidl tonight for groceries.

Tea tonight is meatball pasta bake topped with cheese.

    Good morning,

well done traveller and misstara. Hope everybody with the lurgy is feeling better soon. Half of Dundee is out with it just now.

Off to a good start for October.

Had a tech low night yesterday, made beer :p.

OH got offered a new job :j, but will see their full conditions first, but likely to take it as his current company is going downhill.

And our "new" used car needs major surgery , is not save to drive. Only bought it two months ago. We'll definitely make sure that this is covered under the car sales places warranty. If not, luckily we paid some of it on a CC and should be covered under section 75.

Started getting organised for October. We have 3 kids birthdays and usually that means a mad dash to TKMAx on the day spending at least £50 on the three (combined). I had £15 amazon vouchers and paid an extra £5 to get them sorted now. I used to not like doing that as it means spending money right on payday, but gosh the amount of money I saved. See if I can get my mum's birthday present sorted to day too.

Also ordered a one of those winged clothes dryers of ebay for a tenner. That's 30 quid saved as i had my eye on a £40 in Ikea. But this one will do just as well and we now need more space to put washing up.

Trip to LIDL at lunch for fresh stuff and then hopefully a few SFDs.

    Have a nice day

EDIT: found sth for my mum too. She'll be 62 and is hard to buy for but I got her an adult colouring in book and nice pencils. Sth different and they seem to be the thing atm. Got two additional ones, one for me and one as a backup gift. Spend £16. Put a few bath smelly and sweets in the parcel, done.

    Morning everyone

Stewby go to San Francisco gorgeous place and most friendly people ever. No need for a car so compacted and ride the trams. I am going back when debt free.

I have been to LA, not over impressed hotel was about 100 metres from Dennys restaurant and was only early evening and the bouncer from the restaurant offered to walk us back to the hotel. Do universal studios there it is better than the Florida one.
Vegas - make sure you go to see the Grand Canyon we did a fly over in a little plane was amazing and saw hoover damn.
Washington I found bit lacking not sure what I expected. Was on a high security alert when we were there.
New York fab so much to see and do. First thing to do get up Empire state building and take headphone tour, book online and then you get your bearings of all the districts. Judith Chalmers finished now hehe.

Well got up early defrosted old fridge/ freezer. Put lamb shoulder in slow cooker with some redcurrant sauce and red wine. Borrowed friends table top freezer last night, really heavy to carry but managed to cram all my stuff in. She had this sickness bug as well so took her doggy out for a walk for her.

Good luck for the interview Dolly if you go.

Last day of Sept today no spending for me Thanks apple muncher for a terrific challenge, sorry I was so rubbish see you in October everyone x

Just back from LILD and got £7 off using my loyalty card. Only just got the hang of it last week as I didn't realise what it was for. Thought it was just for getting those little kids STickeez for free, lol.

Although, half the shopping will remain under my desk till tomorrow as there is now way I'm getting all this home on the bus with a four year old and his bike.

They are the grey pop out cards and key fobs that are in brochure holders at/near the door, called smarter shopping card. Just grab one, no application or anything. Just present them at the till and you get this weeks deal, i.e. £7 off if you spend 35. Last weeks was 5 off 30. The person next to you is paying full price for the same shop if he doesn't have a card.

Not sure if it just a trial as the cards are quite flimsy. We'll see.

Just checked. Only in Scotland and only till the end of October http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/9722.htm

  • Last day, and it has been a spendy one. However, dd now has enough socks for school (and even some to grow into - go me!) and a plethora of hair accessories in her school colours, pjs and a dressing gown for her Cmas eve hamper (new idea for this year - dvd, popcorn, jammies ...). Plus 2 tops to grow into and some books for the book advent I'm planning (all ch shop ones). I braved primani, which at 9am ish was quite a nice place to shop for once, plus just 1 charity shop.

October needs more austerity - and I need to note abso-blimmin-lutely every single thing I buy, and keep to budgets. Looking forward to it!

Thank you all for the journey in September! :T:T:T
