Glad you're ok welshkitty
SFD here today, just work, work and more work. I think I need to find some proper relaxation techniques as I can feel the stress building in my head and my muscles

Good morning,
Finalised my Tescimo order for payday. Stocked up on a load of tins, cheap muesli, seeds and all sorts of staples that should hopefully last most of the month incl toiletries for £100. Then I will only need to get fresh meat, veg, fruit and dairy from LIDL on Wednesdays. Otherwise not much to report.
Cancelled a night out (although I was soooo desperate to go as I haven't seen the girl's in ages never mind not having been out in general) as I didn't want to upset the finances of October right at the start. But we might go and see friends up north this weekend if the car gets fixed (and paid for by the people that sold it to us). Other wise heads down.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Calling - your fridge sounds like an essential to me. Our fridge/freezer is 13 years old and is icing up a lot in the fridge (a mini iceberg), I am hanging on to it but hope to replace it before it dies, it can't be particularly energy efficient now either. One thing that bothers me though is how little time everything lasts now, when me and DH moved here we bought new appliances and they lasted really well but the replacements have been replaced again.
Welshkitty - hope you got over your electric shock. I put my finger in an overhead light fitting whilst decorating once and the shock caused me to fly off the chair I was standing on. I think it was the actual shock to me and not the current that did it, it did burn my finger though.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

My plans for today don't involve spending any money which is always good (although DS is at swimming club and that is £3 but already budgeted for).
It is foggy again but it was yesterday and turned out glorious by lunchtime. The washing is on again - where does it all come from? I have work to get done then I will do some housework and have a lovely walk in the woods with the dog.
Finally got the paint for the gate (or DH did) and put the bike lights back on, not sure if DH bought coal though but there is no rush.
A lady rang me last night about a job I have applied for, she is doing a CRB check and getting references so that sounds promising for an interview. It is part time so I would carry on with my current job but this is with the council and may lead onto other things.
Have a good day all.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Our Oven, fridge and freezer are still the original ones from when the house was build in 1980, so 35 years old! Nothing today would last that long. Probably a really bad energy rating and the fridge keeps freezing things but still going ok. Can't wait to start saving for our kitchen fund though.
Good luck with the job!DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Just a quick post to say my final scores for September were paying another £100 today. Putting me at 46% of my stretch target and with £164.18 to find for a sub 3k October.
OH has very kindly rearranged his dentist work till November which was his own idea but he has a temporary filling in now so all is OK for now. That keeps £200 in our October purse.
Utterly dead here today. Taken £29 all day. This time yesterday I was running round at full pace with people everywhere. Wish I knew which days were going to be any good. I could easily take the day off instead as that is pretty much what I spent on base ingredients to open today.
Just had a small flurry of people plus have a couple of builders in now. So maybe a slow day but not too bad?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hello all.
Back on to nightshift. Swapped my shifts around to accomodate a colleague and it has messed my system up a bit. On Tuesday, off Wednesday, on Thursday, off Friday, on Saturday and Sunday.
As a result, I have ended up with a rip-roaring cold so feeling a bit sorry for myself.
Started writing this on Sunday night and the rip-roaring cold has actually turned out to be a virus. Now having fevers, sweats, coughing fits, sneezing fits and vomiting. Also aching all over. On the plus side, no appetite and not being able to keep anything down means that my diet has started early and we are saving a fortune in food (well, we have a freezer of food that hasn't been used up). It's one of those if you don't laugh, you'd cry things.
This desert island community is sounding awesome by the way... do you need a nurse by any chance??
The only thing that is absolutely gutting is that I was given the opportunity to be the lead for something at my work and I was really excited and wanted to prove myself.
However, the course is tomorrow and I am struggling to leave the top floor of the house (toilet and bed are up here).
So I have had to ask a work colleague to step in as I am just not able. Am so disappointed as I had really been studying hard for the course.
Not sure how many spend-free days we had. Definitely made it to 15 as we have been sticking to shopping just one day a week... although I know we were naughty a couple of times. (had a chinese on Friday night as I wasn't feeling up to cooking).
I agree with everyone else in that the car and fridge are necessary spends. No naughty step for either of you in my opinion. Besides I don't think anyone should share it with me just now, I might sneeze on you.

Hi everyone
Welsh kitty, I'm glad your ok
Oh Bob, I hope it all picks up for you today. I really admire those that go the self employed route. My son is a photographer/Video person??? Some months are tight for him, but he's at home. Next month he starts leasing a studio and it will be a lot tougher on him financially, but with him being at home, he can afford to explore, but he does find it a struggle sometimes. But, when your in the 'real word' like you Bob, there is no back up and I take my hat off to you :T
Calling,Welshkitty, no need for the naughty step, in my mind they were essentials and as Bob says if we're gonna spend, enjoy it
Dolly good luck with the job-fingers crossed
Louise, I hope you and your daughter get well soon
Miss Tara, that sounds like such a great upbringing!
Well Today the sun is shining and combined with me working from home, I'm a happy bunny
I'd like to share a short story with you all if I may.
In 2013 I entered the New year with approx 16k worth of debt  It was never really added up until the August of that year and I always made minimum payments. The debt was not from extravagant things, but not cutting my coat when my income and family situation changed. To cut a long story short, reconciled (stupidly) with ex and had our 4th child (Not part of the plan, but would never be without him-love him to bits) in 2008 only to find he was otherwise engaged,so became a single mother again, with very little support from him at the time, this coinciding with a public sector pay freeze and closure of my old job and relocating to another one that now had 120.00 per month travel costs. Previously I walked to work. Nursery fees also took their toll. At this point, I should have cut my holiday expenditure and travelled to cheaper places, but feeling i'd let my children down, by getting us into that situation, I didn't want anything to change for them. So i racked up the 0 percent offers without a cat in hells chance of getting stable
Well In August 2013 My lightbulb moment came when I turned 40. I was sat on the Gondola with a Gondelier singing happy birthday to me in Las Vegas and I thought, I'm gonna be debt free as soon as possible-no excuses. When we came back from that trip, I emptied any savings I had and threw them at the debt, with a plan that come hell or high water I must pay 500.00 per month to the debt (there were some setbacks though) and when I spotted Kats challenge , I thought I'd give it a go! Well, this little community was great! The mix of people and their wealth of life lessons and experiences really helped to keep me on track. And I am happy to say the 16k I vowed to clear on 2/9/13 Will be gone this evening. I do still have approx 3k on a loan left which was 10k and a consolidation failureBut that was never part of the challenge for me, as the bank takes that automatically, so no will power was required. So I'd just like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone for all your support!
I will be returning to Vegas next July and will be a lot taller, without the weight of all that on my shoulders! I can safely go, as I don't know how to or want to gamble :rotfl: It's funny, one of my favorite films is the Hangover. Kayne West's song in it, Can't tell me nothing, became my debt free anthem, the opening lyrics:
'I had a dream I bought my way into heaven
But when I woke up I'd spent the money on a necklace
I told God I'd be back in a second
It's so hard not to act reckless'
Those words kind of summed me up, I meant well, but it never happened
I have to ring the extra payment in, so i'm waiting for the cheap rates to kick inHave a great day everyone! And KEEP going :
