    PPI Party Pooper
HI THERE i posted a while ago about my reclaim sucsess....now the bank offered me 150 pounds for misshandeling of my ppi claim. with months and months of hard work chaising them .and them telling me yes claim being delt with.and it went to calculations .then not.so i contacted the OMB.with the bank offering 150 in compensation..there site says up to 50 pounds a day for distress and inconvinience..so i rang the bank and they are going to re adress the amount.which i think is fair .as there handling of my ppi claim was very bad.does any body know what to expect.i claimed back 40.000 in my claim but it took from being upheld 4months of long phone calls passed from piller to post department to department..and also being told cheque on its way ..then no sorry even though it was confirmed many many time got the cheques eventually though..whats your views on there distress and inconvinience amounts .thank you...
  • Hi All, ive dug out some very old RBS statements from about 10 years ago and the clearly show PPI on them, ive claimed previously but been refused due to having signed the loan agreement including the PPI. I recently received a letter from RBS about my initial claim asking was i happy with the result and if not to resubmit ! I have done this and am now waiting, surley with PPI clearly on the statements they dont have a leg to stand on ?

You cannot complain simply because you paid PPI and can prove it.It has to have been mis-sold to you for it to be refunded.
They've already told you that you signed the paperwork accepting the insurance, so on what basis did you ask them to re-consider your complaint?

You'll have to rely on the Bank finding something wrong with the sale as part of their re-investigation ...

I have just won a pre 2005 one so I would go for it :)
Take it to FOS next laurahill.

I have just won a claim from 1992...with no policy number or paperwork!
  • With the help of the FOS I have just settled with Barclays a claim on a mortgage from 1992....with no policy number or paperwork....a bit of a long haul but, dispite posts to the contrary in this forum, it was mis sold due to my multiple sources of income.

It just shows that its worth sticking to your guns.

I'm not sure why others here were so adamant that your complaint had no foundation back in 2011.

Having said that, it took FOS intervention and more than three years for Barclays to agree to a refund.

What did the FOS adjudicator say? Did it go all the way to an actual Ombudsman?

    RBS nearly £6k for 3 loan accounts between 1998 - 2007.

That adds to my 2 Egg Loan payouts for £2300.

Just the CPP and Barclaycard, although if I don't get them, I won't be too disappointed as I wasn't banking on either of the others paying out.

Basically most of my complaints are from the fact that PPI has generally been added without any real discussion or explanations particularly regarding cancelling them etc.

This was particularly with my last loan, which was agreed after a call from Natwest, saying would I like a top up loan as my loan was coming to an end and basically name your amount and was done within about a 5 minute phone call.

Still they have had a lot of interest out me in the past and are still making money from my savings, so I don't feel too bad, at taking money from them :)

Nice fast payout from Natwest, was in my account with 5 days of me sending off my acceptance forms.

Still waiting on the Barclaycard one, which I did back in January, so hopefully hear shortly. The CPP one, I sent off about a week ago.

I was paying over £70.00 a month on a M&S credit card for over 10 years which I did not realise was optional. It was strongly recommended to me that I take it out so being young and clueless I didnt question it. I contacted them and was refused a refund so it is now in the hands of the Financial Ombudsman. So far I have had a letter explaing that they will deal with my claim at some point but it has been over a year... frustrated as so many others that I know have been successful and received some money back!!!!...must be owed quite a lot but not hopeful at the moment Im afraid.

I am waiting on M&S Money too - they seem to be one of the firms that play hardball on PPI. I doubt it will take a year but equally, we have to be patient. It doe snot mean the FOS will not decide win your favour - at least if you win the interest you receive will be higher!

You're not "owed" anything at all I'm afraid unless FOS eventually finds in your favour.
Ombudsman referrals typically take eighteen months or more, so you'll be waiting for a while yet I fear...
