I have had a response back from Lloyd's regarding 2 loans I held years ago. They say they tried to contact me on the number provided to discuss my complaint but were unable to get hold of me and so they have made a decision based on the info they hold and basically they are not upholding the complaint as they don't believe their advisors would have given bad advice.
On the bottom of the response it gave a number to call if I wanted to speak to them about the response.
I called the number and was put back through to the ppi complaints team and I asked when they had tried to call me as I had not missed any calls. They said they had tried to call me once on my landline and once on my mobile, minutes apart. I checked back through my call logs on both of my phones and there were no missed calls from any number, listed or withheld.
They said they would pass it back to the team and they took details of my shift patterns and said they would see if they would reopen it. That was over 10 days ago and I have had nothing (I have religiously answered every call to my phone (much to the annoyance of my husband).
Is there anything else I can do with this or is it best just to go straight to the ombudsman? If I do go to the fos how do I do this and any ideas of the approximate timescales? X

    Hi everyone,

been a while since I have posted and I hope everyone is sticking in there with their claims

I have had a letter this last week from CT capital about a claim they have previously closed asking if I would like them to reopen the case, has many other people had this letter?

I gave this up as a lost cause after the other wins I had had and paid the loan off almost immediately. It just seems strange that they come back now.

    Thanks
  • Hi

I have attempted to make a complaint with RBS on a cpp sold to me in 1989, Rbs have refused this complaint and told me to go to CPP or financial ombudsman

I am not going to leave this complaint as it is... so would like advise on where i should go ?

I know most people will say its pre 2005 you have no chance, but i believe i do as it has been mis sold regardless of time.

Any POSITIVE input would be grateful.

Give them a bit longer, it is possible they are looking into it, call them and ask if it is progressing, you cannot go to FOS until the bank give you a final response, good luck.

Thanks I'll call them and see what they say x
  • After my success with the loan PPI with Citi Financial, I am now pleased to say that they have just written to me to uphold my complaint about my credit card PPI as well. I am pursuing them via the FOS for refusing to refund pre-2006 credit card default charges.
However, on a more positive note, I must say that I am impressed at the speed they have turned around all 3 complaints I have lodged with them. I hope nobody tells me off for being so complimentary about companies who, in effect, ripped us off but if all companies were as fast as Citi have been (in my experience anyway) then maybe we'd all be happier a lot quicker.
Come on BarclayCard and Capital One, you need to up your game! :rotfl:

Yes maggy50. I remember I had the card before I started a new job in 2002, so most definitely before then!

I reckon the default charges they are refusing to refund as 'it's their policy not to refund charges from more than 6 years' may be refunded when the FOS get involved. The reason I say this is that I firmly believe the total amount refundable would not be much more than the fee they would have to pay to the FOS, so it may be a gamble on their part or they may just be trying to see if I just give up after scoring 2 out of 3. Not giving up!

Regulation of all Insurance Sales began January 2005, but Banks already had their own forerunner to FOS so regulation is not an issue in this case.
