  • Can anyone help - I am trying to claim back CRP from Egg (Canada Square Operations now) and I firmly believe and recall telephone conversations with them about this back in 2001 - but they say I have added it online/taken it out online. My feeling is I had no idea this was the case, which in itself is worrying. I feel if I believe it was through a conversation and I didn't really want this, but felt pressured - yet they say it was online - does that in itself not suggest I have no idea how I ended up with this? I clearly remember a conversation being led into taking this.
Does anyone have any experience of being able to get money back from them on this type of thing and how much might be outlying -I had this on a card for around 9 years and would never have had more than £5000 on it but I have no documentation showing how much I might have paid.
Just wondering is it worth going on trying to get it back or will it be such a small amount that the stress isn't worth it? I'm getting nowhere and having to go through the ombudsman next

If you firemly believe you have had conversations with them, but Egg can prove you took it out online, you're ona hiding to nothing.

Your only option is to forward it to the FOS and hope that Egg kept bad records, or there was another failure somewhere.

    Don't get your hopes up.

  • Can anyone offer advice on this one!

I took out a concolidation loan with Black Horse with my partner at the time and after a lengthy period we then seperated and are now devorced. She declared herself bankrupt and the debt fell to me. Black Horse passed over the debt to another third party and at the time I didn't notice that the amount passed over was the Loan, Interest and PPI payment conjoined. I remember the lenghty interview for the loan and remember the gentleman explaining PPi to my partner who told him this PPI was stupid and we didn't want it. However they sold the loan with the 5 years of PPI included to the third party.

My question is am I entitled to the PPI from Black Horse?

If you have reasons for mis sell then make the claim, if the loan was in joint names and you win, you both get 50%, as your partner was bankrupt, it is possible that the OR will need to know re their share likewise, if there are arrears these could be taken off any redress you may get.

If you could afford to repay this loan should the worst happen, maybe had savings, a good sickness package from work or life insurance, if the PPI was Single Premium, this was in fact a loan on the loan repaid to term with interest then use these as reasons for mis sell, put the complaint into Black horse.
  • amersall thanks for the info. I have the evidence and paperwork to support a claim. Hopefully me and my ex-wife may be able to put this behind us and I can lift this aweful wait off my shoulders and move on. Thanks again

    You're very welcome!:T
  • On checking through old paperwork recently I noticed that I had been paying insurance on and old Egg loan which had been paid off. I found that Citibank were handling any complaints about miss-selling so completed the form provided on MSE and sent it off together with a copy of the agreement. I received an acknowledgement 1 week later and on opening a second envelope in the same post found a cheque for £3,200 which had been refunded. Couldn't believe it was so quick and simple! Naturally I am absolutely delighted! I have since found 2 more cards which had also had insurance and have followed the same procedure so waiting for the outcomes on those.

    Hi

I used the forms from here and submitted 1 to RBS for ppi on a loan. I had no paperwork. They telephoned me and gave me an interview. 1 week later I received an offer and 10 days later received 5 chequest totalling £9816 :j

I had been thinking of not bothering seeing I could make a claim as I had just finished a long debt management journey which had taken 11 years to resolve (mainly because of reduced income due to reduction in hours for ill health). During that time, RBS had taken me to court for a ccj. Both I and Stepchange thought they were trying to obtain more money from me. It was only afterwards that it came to light that the ccj was because they claimed I'd missed 6 months worth of payments (which I hadn't because at this stage, I'd been paying religiously every month for 6 years). When I challenged their error, they set the ccj aside.

I reckon I must have cheesed RBS off at this point because they put 2 further ccjs against me but again the judge sided with me and they got no further money from me. I did however have a charging order set against me (the judge on the day who was standing in for another judge, said she wouldn't have allowed the charging order based on my continuous repayment of debt).

Cut to last November and the debt was repaid :j

At the time of submitting my RBS ppi claim, I made a Barclays one. That has been handled SOOOOO different. Its now gone outside the 40 days limit. I rang up to see where it was up to. I've been told because I have married from when the claim was made that they've put a stop on the cheque they were going to send me as they have realised the change in my name! They never told me this, I've had to find this out by ringing up and getting the run around. I had answered a letter they had sent me whereby it said I could go in branch OR write to them. I wrote to them and provided a photocopy of my marriage certificate (as I did RBS), which Barclays have scanned on to their records. Their screens say I'm married, the staff call me by my married name yet, for the purposes of writing a cheque, they can't write it in my married name unless I go in branch. I'm now digging my heels in as this is now very poor customer service. After being on the phone for 58 mins on Thursday with the customer service complaints team and as I was holding they were twice cut off, they are so mortified, they are going to take the complaint forward and I will receive a call tomorrow as to where this is up to. Either way, I know another cheque will be on its way, but I'm not too sure how much for.

What I'm trying to say (after a long waffle, apologies) is that I couldn't have done it or wouldn't have done it without reading the boards here. Boy am I so glad I did
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.
