PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Thanks to Martins template, I helped by brother claim mis-sold PPI from Barclays going back to 1998. He initially received £500 from them as a good will gesture, saying their records didn't go back that far. But my brother had all the paperwork and records so we went to the Ombudsman. He has now received a further £1500 giving a total of £2,000! The initial complaint was made in May 2012. We then went to the ombudsman in December 2012 and he has just received the final settlement so it has been nearly 2 years. With that in mind I would say don't give up and think they have forgotton at the ombudsman. We didn't hear anything from them after December 2012 when they said it could take sometime and we had thought that was the end of it but the letter of success turned up out of the blue this week. Thank you Martin & the team0

If he had provided his own records at the time of complaint, you could probably have avoided going to the ombudsman at all.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Nat west wrote to me about 6 months ago regarding ppi with a claim form to complete. I put it to one side and forgot about it.
Then 6 weeks ago I came across it and thought I've got nothing to lose, so completed it and sent it off. Yesterday I got a letter saying that they have upheld my complaint and offered me almost £2000 :j:j

I have had 3 successful big claims, I have always been self employed and simply sated this on each form, I put the first two claims in 2012 using the templates on the site, these were two barclaycard and MBNA. Both upheld my complaints within the time frame, and I received cheques totaling just over 22K.
Fast forward to this year when RBS wrote to me about a loan I had in 2003, I used this as a bridging loan and rolled it forward onto a mortgage once approved (I wasnt able to mortgage the house at the time as I was awaiting transfer into my name). I was convinced that firstly the loan didn't have PPI on it and as it only ran for about 6 months if it did the amount paid would only be a very small amount. I filled in the form anyhow and sent it off, after the initial standard confirmation I received a letter after 6 weeks saying they were still looking into it, at this point I thought they might have found something but in all honesty expect a couple of hundred quid if anything (a little spending money for our May holiday). Letter came through on the 20th saying the complaint was upheld to the tune of £14537. one of them I had to read twice to believe! . Because the loan was front loaded and rolled forward they have had to compensate for the lot. Acceptance letter sent first amounts the statutory interest of £3300 paid in two days, just waiting on the 11K (have a feeling they might be a tad slower on this;)) to go in.0 -

However, the only realistic way you will receive more than they are offering is if you have evidence of having paid more in your own archive. If you have no such evidence, I'd just enjoy your £63.
Ok thanks....on the letter it says they are going off assumptions?...and saying "hypothetically" reconstruction?....any ideas what this is?...0 -

It means no evidence of actual payment exists and they are reconstructing what they believe it may have been.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
