Hey folks, just posting to share our experience so far and hopefully gain a little advice.

Our experience has been over a pair of loans taken out with Lloyds by my Dad (as he was the only one in the family to take PPI on anything). Unfortunately though he's gotten nothing back so far.

He got a letter in March 2013 saying he may be entitled to some money back, and filled out the questionnaire raising several points. A month later he got a rejection from Lloyds, and didn't believe he'd be able to challenge them so he gave up

My Dad received another letter this month, regarding a separate loan that he took PPI out on. It's only now that he sought advice from someone else! So I'm lodging the complaint on his behalf for this new case so I can pursue it a little more aggressively, and refer it on to the ombudsman, because I know from reading this site that you shouldn't give up easily! ;)

I'm wondering if I can pursue the old complaint from last year? As far as Lloyds are concerned, they made a final decision in May 2013 (so the 6 month deadline has well and truly passed). However considering my Dad wasn't very well clued about the appeals process, he was abit worried about pursuing it further and gave up! Plus as his rejection decision was made around the time that the 'Deloitte' circus antics were going on at Lloyds, I'm trying to persuade him to pursue the old complaint. I've had a read through his original rejection letter, and they provide no evidence... the customer service advisor literally wrote "In my opinion I have concluded that we did not mislead you in any way". Yeah that's it, no evidence, nothing.

Is it worth ringing Lloyds to try and pursue it, or writing to the ombudsman, or is it a case of throwing in the towel?

FOS won't be able to consider this as the reasons for delay are not compelling enough. Typically, FOS will only override the six month deadline if (for example) a close relative has died or a major debilitating illness has been suffered. Your Dad was fully appraised of his right to appeal the decision in the Bank's "Full and Final" rejection letter, so saying he was " not very well clued about the appeals process" will fall on deaf ears.

Good luck with his current complaint..

He could submit another complaint, and tell them that he isn't satisfied with their response as it was during the Deloitte handling, and he doesn't think they paid it due consideration and see what they say to that.
They may deny it again, they may not.

Hi all.. We were happy back in late Jan when we received a letter out of the blue from loans.co.uk re: a loan that was being looked at with the FOS stating that they had upheld our complaint and would be in touch soon! Late April still not heard a peep, gave them a ring this morning (second time in a month) they say that the calculator they work out the 8% is under construction so all claims are on hold until they are notified it is back in working order... having waited over 2years I first though what is a few more week.. now I am becoming extremely frustrated. Anyone else ever heard of this or is it complete bull .

They can't pay you because their "calculator" is broken?:D

Martin Lewis sold this site some time back. It's certain he doesn't read or respond to this forum in any way and the advice article was written by MSE staffer Amy Ellis to whom you should direct your thanks.
