You should have made a complaint that you were sold single premium PPI on a loan where the PPI wouldn't cover you for the length of the loan.
You had your lump sum of PPI back, but the interest was still added to the loan.

Anyway, if your complaint is successful, you will get hat you paid minus what they've already paid you.
You'll have to wait and see what they say.

  • Hi

I came home form work tonight to a letter from CT Capital saying they have reviewed our case and are planning to FULLY UPHOLD our complaint. Why was this not done in 2012???

They have enclose a CAF form for us to sign as they were a broker on the PPI and want to contact Firstplus on our behalf. So they can calculate how much redress is due to us. They also enclosed the previous complaint letter from 2012 saying we had the redress money back from the Life Insurance part. It also states, as we didn't contact the FOS 6mths after the original complaint, whatever redress offer they give we will not be able to take it to the FOS for review.

Now, can you tell me if our loan will be re-set or will we just get the difference in the PPI amounts?

Any help would be great on what to do next.

depends. You can ask them to reset the loan instead of receiving payments.

You've already had about 3/4 of it back, so that won't becoming off your loan again therwise they would have paid you twice.

It's better if they do reset the loan because youll save money ni interest.

  • Ok, we'll fill in the form and see how that goes. I am wondering though how are we not aloud to go to the FOS they didn't handle the original complaint correctly. When you have no clue and expect the people who do to do their job right, how are you then at wrong?? They seem to be on the ball though, sent my original e-mail on the 3rd April received confirmation on the 11th April and this letter today. thanks again Taff
  • I am about to submit ppi claims to a number of companies. There is one though which I took out around 1999 and the last payment was made in 2004 the company is D,A,F,S, Direct Auto Finance Service. I know there is this 10 year cut off period which I think I am just within re my last payment. But I did attempt to make a claim about 6 years ago which was rejected which could have been wrong. My question is am I too late to try again or does my last payment in 2004 and/or my attempt to get my ppi back 6 years ago rekindle the time scale ? Can someone advise please....thanks

Car dealers were nor regulated in 1999 and so don't have to consider a mis-selling complaint from that year. The fact that your last payment was not until 2004 is irrelevant. Your complaint would be about the sale of the insurance, not events after.

They will reset the loan, they will take the whole PPI amount off and this will lower your monthly payment by the monthly PPI amount, make sure that they do this.
You will get back all PPI paid with the interest on that and the 8%, they will then deduct what you have been paid so far.
Let us know what offer they make.
  • thanks Amersall really appreciate it, if it wasn't for you I would never have pursued this again, I am sending the CAF off recorded delivery today, I'll keep you posted when I know more. xx

Ffffinally! Started my claim in 2012 when I found old loan paperwork from the late 90s. Just got my check for £1890, after following MSE template. Barclays rejected me initially saying they had no record of my loan, despite providing them with the copy paperwork, so I went to the ombudsman who upheld the claim. Also transpired along the way that they had all my previous address details wrong - looks like they mixed me up with another customer.
