    That's hilarious!
They can't pay you because their "calculator" is broken?:D
    I know
  • :jHi, just wanted to thank this site for giving me the help I needed to make PPI claims. I am pleased to say that since completing the forms in February I have received a cheque from one bank where I had a credit card for just under £1800 and an offer for just over £6250 from another where I had loans. I cannot believe how simple it was !! I never in my wildest dreams thought I would get this much back. So please if anyone is thinking about it just download the forms and go for it as you have nothing to loose. This money will enhance my life so much.
    Thanks again

i tried to claim back my ppi from aviva insurance, who refused, so i took the claim to the financial ombudsman, 17 months later i received a reply /decision from them , refusing to decide in my favour, amongst the excuses!!, their outcome was that aviva did not sell me the ppi wrongly, so i have now appealed against the financial ombudsman decision, i do not hold out for any hope, so the guaranteed payment from the banks is not a sure thing, be aware to avoid disappointment

the guaranteed payment from the banks is not a sure thing
It was never portrayed as such. Unless you had a robust mis-selling complaint, with (preferably) verifiable reasons there was never any "guarantee"

Most loan and credit card PPi complaints result in success. Most MPPI and standalone PPI complaints result in failure.

What type of PPI is it?
What evidence do you have to support your complaint as it appears they have nothing to support your allegations?

Why are you talking about banks when you are complaining to an insurance company?

Thanks to Martin Lewis site we have got PPI back on a paid off loan which we took out in 2004. It took around 8 weeks.

We paid approx. £800 included in the loan for PPI and have received approx. £1,200 back (this is made up of interest and with tax deducted). The loan was from Tesco.

We used the form on this site. We explained that if made unemployed, had sickness etc we got so many months wages from work or could ask family to help us out.

Also the PPI was in just my husbands name, but the loan was in both names. We explained that if for some reason he did not pay they would chase me(wife) for payments and I had no PPI cover- so it was miss sold.

Hope this helps if anyone is thinking about claiming.
Have a go, nothing to lose. Good Luck.
  • hi, many thanks for that it is much appreciated, we took out a mortgage with cheshire building society, who sold out to aviva, this was a ppi on mortgage payments, i have all the relevant documents and information which i sent copies to them , they then refused our claim for ppi, we then contacted the financial ombudsman who 17 months later decided in the favour of the insurance,i have now appealed against their decision,

sorry!!! it was just a figure of speech!!!! when they say " the banks have put aside millions to refund us", originally it was a building society, then they sold out to a few companies, and then aviva insurance took over the ppi insurances,we do have all the relevant documents, which we sent copies of to aviva, who refused the refund, then we sent to financial ombudsman who decided in their favour, we have put in an appeal to the ombudsman, but we do not hold up much hope, thanks for you help, regards,

Are they rejecting it because Aviva have no liability for the sale? The seller carries the liability. Not the insurer. The only time the insurer carries the liability is if the seller was a tied representative of the insurer.

  • Hi

I wonder if you all can help me? In 2012 I came on this site and had a look at the forum regarding PPI. We have a loan with First Plus the PPI with CT Capital. When we took the loan for £20,000 the PPI was for £7404 over ten years. We were told we had to take the PPI or we would not get the loan, accordinging to them that was untrue, however I put in a claim after reading information on here. The initial 5 year term was almost up and we were due to get the £4898 back in the July. It was May at this point, I received a letter claiming they were partially upholding our claim as they agreed we didn't need the life insurance part but the sickness part regarding my husband was a no go. They offered £898 which we accepted although being half of the original amount quoted in the loan of £1907. In the July we received the cheque for £4898.

Here's my dilema now, last month I received a letter from the co-op stating they were glad we were still paying my husbands Personal Accident Insurance dating back to 2001, we took the original loan out in 2007, proving we had cover, the only thing on our cover not matching normal PPI is general sickness cover. I came on the site again and browsed through, I saw a template "Amersall" had put up and I have sent it away again asking for it to be re-assessed again. They sent me a letter telling me it is being looked into.

Now if I have this right and reading all the info on here correctly, with the original PPI being £7404 if they uphold this new claim, will I get back the difference between the amounts? for example £7404-£4898-£898 being roughly £1608. I knew we had cover but as the years pass you miss place or pay things every month and have no idea what they are lol.

Any advice would be appreciated, Also can anyone tell me if we should be entitled to the rest of the Life cover money back too, the loan is still being paid and runs until May 2017.

    Many Thanks in advance.
