i have had 6 ppi claims turned down. 3 halifax credit cards, 2 tesco, credit card & loan 1 chelsea, mortgage, i downloaded the template letters and sent them away, i have had a reply back from all of them. saying that at the time the cards and loans were taken out i asked for the ppi. or opted for it. or signed for it. and another where it was added to a card at a later date.( cant remember that !) and i was given as much info at the time when i took them out, in the way of leaflets, which would have come in the envelope pack at the time ! i have had a Halifax credit card for well over 20 years , i took this out when i was approx 20 years old. i cant ever remember Asking for PPi nor did i understand it 20 years ago. the card has quite a high limit on it, and has been maxed out over the years a few times and paid off in full, and i still use it today. the chelsea mortgage was paid off in full 10 years ago. they dont deny i had a mortgage with them but its up to me to prove i did ! as they have not kept records of my mortgage. ! ive just sent all 6 claims to the ombudsman. i think the banks are just sending out any old letter to you refusing your claims, and hoping that the not too brightest of us will just go with their decisions .0

They approached me.

With the mortgage, most Chelsea mortgages were put in place by brokers. If that was the case for you then the lender wont even know if you had PPI.
Even if you put it in place with the lender, if they have no evidence of you having it, letter alone if it was mis-sold or not, and you have no evidence then your complaint cannot be upheld.
It looks like your complaints are largely try it on or even frivolous as you have little or not facts available and no reasons for complaint. You are just making it harder for all those with genuine complaints.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Nram have given me 2 options. Option 1 accept full refund receiving it all myself though I'm obviously in arrears option 2 nram could use some of the ppi refund to clear current arrears and I receive the rest. If I choose option 1 they say "enforcement action is likely to follow against you" i have chosen to receive all refund but thinking about it now I'm a bit worried, any advice would be very much appreciated
Take the money and then give them a call and set the arrangement up with them again, they did this with a friend of mine, make sure you have income and expenditure ready.
The arrangement should carry on as before if you are not due a

If the poster has an arrangement wIth NRAM then they are dealing with the debt
I suggest taking the money and carrying on with the arrangement, especially if the poster has other priority debts to pay.0 -

I had three loans with Alliance & Leicester going back to 1996. Using the simple letter template on MSE I applied to Santander six weeks ago and received an offer for £8900 the day before my birthday.
I had kept the paperwork for two loans, but only had a letter with reference number for the third. All three claims were accepted.
Thank you MSE for giving me the confidence to do it and not just assume I wouldn't succeed.:T0 -
MBNA upheld a claim against my husbands credit card. £956 better off in time for crimbo! Happy days.
Sent a simple letter and they responded within three weeks :j0
