PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Here again, something I forgot to ask.
Someone told me that sometimes PPI's were hidden in the mortgage repayments if you hadn't taken one out knowingly
not true at all. PPI isn't 'hidden' anywhere, it's just something claims companies like ot tell people so they can have their business.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Therefore, I won't receive any correspondence they may send me regarding the claim.
What should I do?
Thanks
FInd out your credit card number [ look for old statements with direct debits that pay off the card] . If you can't find any, send a SAR, it'll cost you £10, and depending on how long ago you had the CC they may no longer have details. If they have no details, your claim is at an end.
If they have the details, fill in the questionnaire and send it off. It has a section for your current address.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
What were you reclaiming: Credit Card
Who was the provider: Bank of Scotland
How much did you get back: approx £2000
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Filled in a questionnaire, but crucially also sent copies of every cc statement which I still had, which were needed as the period was 1989 to 1995. Had a response after 8 weeks and the cheque came 3 days later. I don't think I would have stood a chance without the copy statements..0 -
Hi reclaimed money from Citi Financial, would like to know if they have messed anyone else about. I sent of my reclaim pack on 27th Sept 2012 got letter of amount and signed and sent straight back. Just been on phone to them today after the 10-15 working day period only to be told the cheque still not ordered and should be out by the end of this week 3rd November.
Is this the norm for City Financial (could call them something else the way they deal with there customers) and there ppi claim back procedure.0 -
I have been chasing a PPi claim with the Financial Ombusman for over 4 years and last week recieved a letter from them informing me that they would not uphold my complaint against Halifax for PPI taken out against my mortgage.
I unwittingly signed and returned an application form to Halifax at the time of purchasing my first house, believing the form was important and part of the actual mortgage product that I had been sold.
This was not the case althought that was never explained to me at the time either on the phone, bt mail or in person by an advisor. In effect they had sent me junk mail, with personal details on such as the monthly cost of mortgage and other such financial details which led me to believe at the time that it was indeed connected.
When I discovered that I was paying for something that I didnt really want I contacted Halifax to find out about getting the money back only to be told outright no, and it reallywas my silly fault for not reading all the small print they bundle together witht these things. I sent a second letter to Halifax only to now have them start ignoring any correspondance with me regarding my claim.
I then took the step of pursuing the matter with the financial ombudsman. Initially things looked positive, but then after the 3rd year of actually pursuing my claim I felt as if they weren't reading my letters thoroughly and were just picking out the parts that they felt like answering because as they kept informing me they are getting 1000's of claims a month.
All in all, I have been systematically robbed of close to £2000, I am disgusted with the way that Halifax have handled my claim and think that the Financial Ombudsman have been worse than useless!
If naively signing unsolicited junk mail cannot be seen as mis-selling PPI then I struggle to understand how anybody else is getting their money back.
Just another example of the big man riding roughshod over the little man!0 -

It's unfortunate that it's taken four years (so far) for you to begin to realise that.0 -
After using the MSE website I have successfully just rec'd a letter from the Co-op offering me £7129.00!! For the mis-selling of PPI on a loan.
Thank you so much, if I had gone with a company they would had taken a % which no doubt is a lot on 7K! :j0 -

hi All, Just wondering if anyone can help me work out a query I have on my successful claim from Natwest.
We had the offers (7) in total, all with varying amounts. We sent the acceptance forms back and today some of the payments have reached our account. The thing is they all seem to be for less than we signed for.
Here is an example:
First page of letter states 'we are willing to make you a total offer of £928.40'
The page with the breakdown on it says:
Total refund of PPI premium and associated interest to date: £620.06
Gross interest at statutory rate added to each overpayment from the date of payments to date plus additional interest for delay from when we informed you the complaint was put on hold: £385.43
Less tax (20%) £77.09
Net interest £308.34
Total offer £928.40
I took it that the total offer stated was the amount we would get back, but according to the bank statement that hubby got printed out today, they have only paid us the £620.06 figure.
That is only one example, the rest are the same, apart form the biggest payout that we haven't even got.
Can anyone tell me from the example above what we should have received?
Many thanks.0 -

Think I read on here previously that natwest pay the ppi refund & interest in separate payments
