Thanks. My husband just went to the local hole in the wall to get a mini statement and it now shows the biggest repayment, but no interest payments as yet for the 7. I will check the bank again tomorrow afternoon.

  • Looking for a bit of advise , Just been notified that the FOS have upheld my complaint against MBNA after 13 months . Has any body got any idea of what will happen now and how long it could take . Had a Credit card from 2003 to 2008 with an average balance of £7000 bit of guide on what they are obliged to pay out would also be helpful .

Happy post alert! Happy post alert! Happy post alert!

Some while ago I tentatively approached these threads with the intention of asking for any recommendations as to a Claims Handler. I had a secured loan with Welcome Finance, paid off in 2005. I had no paperwork.

Within half hour of posting I was given much appreciated support and encouragement so much so I stopped panicking, calmed myself down and put it all together with the help of Amersall (in particular, many others too) - I truly felt I could take on the world - and today I have happily logged in here to tell you all that I have indeed achieved this (well its as good a feeling as), lol.

This morning I have received a letter from Welcome upholding my claim and offering me £3,398.89 in settlement.

    Woohoo!

So from what once felt hopeless (negative press towards Welcome), no paperwork, a dubious start date of loan (2003 was it/was it not covered by FOS) - just a few phone calls, a few sheets of paper and the cost of special delivery - I am going to have a lovely Christmas and a worry free new year.

Now I can put right things that are important to me, in particular finalise my precious late daughter's memorial stone, and replace some knackered winter boots but best of all I have successfully kicked the !!! of Welcome Finance!

Just to summarise - you can DO IT!

:j:j:j Love it when a plan comes together :rotfl::rotfl:
Well done :j my bill is in the post :p 0% and NO VAT :D:D

You will get the PPI that you paid with the interest and the 8%, Mbna will contact you regarding this, hopefully they won't hang about now the FOS have upheld.
The card will be reset to zero balance to calculate the PPI, any month that the card had a credit balance you do not get the 8% for those months, see what they offer you.
  • I have currently 5 claims in for ppi. Three have been upheld I have heard from LV and RBS and have accepted their offers. Today I spoke to the Halifax who confirmed they have upheld my claim against capital bank from 1997.

They said the offer letter will be sent 2nd class. I travel to Australia for a month on Saturday is there a time limit on the offer if I don't receive the offer before I leave ?

I don't remember a limit on the other two offers

    Cheers
  • My offer from HSBC said I had 6 weeks to accept.

I suggest you contact them and advise them of your traavel plans, that way they should be able to mark the file and not time out the claim.

I suspect they knew my passport was out of date as I have used it in the past as I.D with them. I don't really belive my I.D is an issue as they have accepted that they are in the wrong, my wage gets payed to them, I had a credit card with them and I have a loan with them and when that is payed back, God help me, I will move to any bank going! Nationwide have turned from great to scum in the last decade!

I would suggest you go to the branch, take all the documentation such as statements, or any other correspondance they have sent to you at your current address and ask them, 'have they been sending all this to the wrong person'?
