Hi, it's been a while since I posted on here as my complaints have been with the FOS.

Have had a phone call from them today to say my 4 complaints are all at final stage and just require review by one of their case handlers and a reply should be sent to me soon. :j

2 of my complaints are regarding old store cards (Topshop and Dorothy Perkins). This were taken out in 1996 and paid off in 2004.

Due to the timescales the complaint is against Financial Insurance. Has anyone heard of them or know if there has been any success stories on these old store card complaints?

Thanks and good luck to everyone :)

I am about 12 weeks into a complaint against Barclays for miss-selling PPI on a chain of loans from the early to mid 1990s. I had been told the complaint is in a re-work queue and to expect to wait months for a final response ... just checking my bank account on-line today and noticed 5 amounts of £500 described as PPI + Interest had been deposited into my account - I await the letter of explanation but assume these are goodwill payments due to the age of the loan... good news I believe (although I did complain about 7 loans rather than 5).

I called Abbey National Credit Card for an unrelated matter. At the end of the call I mentioned ppi, during an informal conversation about banks in general.
The advisor asked me a few questions and said he would raise my complaint with the relevant dept.
After some time and a few letters keeping me informed, I received a cheque for just under £600. I was not asked for any further information any thing at all.
After hearing ppi for the last few years I was always put off by the thought of having to use a middleman. I also had a nasty experience after getting a reminder that my renewal was due. The phone call trying to cancel the ppi was murder. The only reason they could tell me I needed this as well as my banks protection was if I got locked out of my house. It was cancelled in the end, but they refused to give me back the renewal charge.
I was aware of this site and one day told myself I would go through all my bank records and fill out the letters on this site.
But I never got round to it. As is, life always throws a few surprises my way, which keep me busy.
Even though I would like to have seen a breakdown, just to put my mind to complete rest, the cheque was welcome.
I also feel very lucky that it happened this way, as you are never sure about mentioning something which they use against you. Sometimes the less said the better.
Maybe my case was more straight forward than most and I certainly had nothing to hide, it usually does not stop companies playing unecessary games..
  • Had letter today from nram after waiting 20 weeks, my case was a bit complicated as I had several loans consolidated, was offered just over £7,000 which is much more than I expected, I am on a DMP with them, have been for 3 1/2 years as I had to leave my job to become a full time carer. Nram have given me 2 options. Option 1 accept full refund receiving it all myself though I'm obviously in arrears option 2 nram could use some of the ppi refund to clear current arrears and I receive the rest. If I choose option 1 they say "enforcement action is likely to follow against you" i have chosen to receive all refund but thinking about it now I'm a bit worried, any advice would be very much appreciated
  • Had a claim re mis-sold PPI upheld by EGG and posted off paperwork sent by them about 4weeks ago, then heard nothing.
Another forum provided an email address which I used to send pdf version of my paperwork.
Today I got a phone call from Citi where the used " lost in post" as their excuse for delay. Other forum contributors had noted the same ploy.
    The email I contacted was

    simon2.cooper@citi.com

    Hope this helps!

You should have taken option 2, they now know you have £7k and will come after for the arrears, some organisations dont give you the option they automatically deduct the arrears. Either way you are in the same position financailly unless you plan to use the £7k for something other than paying any arrears you have.

  • Thanks for the reply spiro, I don't understand why they even give you 2 options in the first place then, even option 2 says if I pay the arrears and keep the rest enforcement against me is likely (but not impossible eh), and is likely to improve your credit rating, but I will be in arrears straight away anyhow as I'm not in employment, I'll probably end up wishing i hadn't bothered. They approached me.
