More good news - claim number 2 has been upheld with the Halifax. I had no paperwork from the original loan but did manage to find a reference number. Anyway 12 weeks into the permitted 16 I've been told I will be receiving a very nice £2970. Hopefully the cheque will arrive before Santa Claus does....

The letter doesn't give any indication of timescales for payment - ideally how much time Halifax are allowed to issue the cheque but more importantly how long its really taking them!!!

Thanks once again to the wonderful people on this site!
    :j:jWell done

Go for it - we had a £25,000.00 loan with Sainsburys , our PPI premiums plus interest were over £11,000 on top of the loan! Got a letter today from Bank of Scotland saying we are getting it all refunded plus interest at 8%, totaling a staggering £13,997.17!!!!!!!! Martin, it's all thanks to you and this site! I downloaded the template and expected a long winded battle, ombudsman etc, but no. I am very , very HAPPY!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Afternoon everyone,
Just got a nice letter from Lloyds to say that they are upheld my PPI complaint and will be paying £2,361:T Have phoned them as not really sure what it's for as I have a few with them at the moment;) And to be honest they didnt really seem to know which one it was for. It seems too big a payout as this claim was for O/D insurance but not going to complain, Just sit and wait now for it, Not holding out much hope of getting it this side of xmas although my last lloyds one came through, from offer to cheque in a week!

Thanks again to everyone on here for all there help:T

    Hi everyone,

Just a few questions to ask.

Has anyone received their loan cheques from Lloyds/TSB, had my credit card cheques but no loan cheque?.

Also I had a credit card with Capital One and can't find the account number as I have paid it off how do you find out your account number?.

I had PPI on my Littlewoods account and paid that off has anyone made a claim against them and been successful?.

Also I think I have asked already but I have found out Land of Leather has gone in to liquidation but I had PPI cover and didn't need it on my settee agreement how do I go about getting a claim together against them as the loan was with Open and Direct who are still going!

Thanks for all your help. :)
Did you phone FSCS as Di suggested regarding land of leather?

You could try littlewoods if you believe you were mis sold this ppi, some have had success with catalogues on this forum.
Send it to the address on your statement and mark it complaint.

Send a letter to Cap One requesting all info they hold on you, enclose a cheque for £10 and give them 40 days to respond.

  • Hi all,

I would gratefully appreciate some help/guidance/advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation or may know more than I do (very possible).

I had a credit card through my bank with MBNA many years ago. This had PPI on it which I was not aware of and the total I paid throughout was approx £900.00.

I recently sent a letter complaining, following the templates and asking for it back to which I received a reply from them advising that I applied for it online and as the T&C's were availble I have no case and have since refused and closed my complaint.

I'm wondering whether they are playing hardball as I recently claimed all my charges back and won near £1,500.00 in total (I was a youngster and defaulted regularly).

Can anyone give me any advice whether I still have a claim even if (as they say) I applied for the Credit Card online? Although I still believe I applied by postal form which I received and was a pre-ticked form.

Any help would be great, thanks all!

I've been going through similar with MBNA. See thread: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3556079

I've just today posted off all the correspondence to the FOS, I'll let them deal with it. As far as I can tell, we definitely still have a claim. Good luck!
  • Wait for it...........

First Plus cheques arrived today!!
Acceptance letter sent back on 19th Sept, and cheque through this morning, £5250.

    All good things...........

Just waiting on Barclaycard decisions now!!

    Thanks again to everyone :T
  • I have just registered to thank Money Savings Expert for all the advice I have received over the last few months.

Following Martin's advice on PPI I started a claim with Barclaycard. I had been paying PPI on my Barclaycard for many years. I tried to make a claim when I was made redundent which was rejected. I therefore then cancelled the policy.

Following PPI in the press I build up the courage to start my own complaint. I sent my initial letter to Barclaycard on the 13th June with my completed questionnaire. I was advised by Barclaycard that the complaint would be reviewed and I would receive a response no later than 12th October. I received a couple of additional letters in July and August advising me that they were still reviewing my case.

The 12th October came and went with no further update. I called up Barclaycard this week chasing a response and have been advised I have been awarded £32,000! Wow!!!!

I am currently awaiting the delivery of my letter. Once I have the letter in my hands only then will I believe the outcome. I am still in shock!!

    Thank you Martin.
